For the last few years, defensive end Maxx Crosby has cemented himself as the face of the Las Vegas Raiders. However, things took a turn during the season when the team decided to place him on Injured Reserve with two games left.

This led to him requesting a trade, which the Raiders granted when they agreed to a deal to send him to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks. Las Vegas thought they were pivoting to a new face of the franchise before the Ravens decided to back out of the trade, citing a failed physical.

Owner Mark Davis is close with Crosby and has been adamant about not wanting to trade in the past, but he agreed to let the star pass rusher leave after the two had a candid conversation.

It looks like Crosby is going to stay put with the Raiders for now. According to Davis, he didn’t even want to trade him, so he’s happy he’s back in Las Vegas.

“I would say you should talk to John (Spytek) and Maxx and Klint (Kubiak),” Davis told reporters at the NFL Annual Meeting.

“As I said, I never wanted Maxx to leave, so I’m glad that he’s back and I’m glad that we got Tyler Linderbaum. So I think we got out of that pretty well.”

Davis Praises Klint Kubiak & John Spytek

It hasn’t taken general manager John Spytek and head coach Klint Kubiak to become familiar with the type of drama that seems to follow the Raiders. Spytek has been around for over a year, and he’s already dealt with a head coaching change. Kubiak has only been with the team for a couple of months and had to deal with this Crosby drama.

Through it all, Davis is happy with what he’s seen from his head coach-general manager combo.

“Well, I’m really impressed with the way John and Klint are working together, along with John’s staff and the coaching staff,” Davis said. “Having the first pick in the draft is exciting because we kind of control the draft – we get to make the decision on who we’re gonna pick.

“But we’ve had that position before, and it didn’t work out. So there’s no magic bullet there, but it’s a great opportunity to get a great player, whoever they decide to pick.”

Davis Excited About Las Vegas Hosting Another Super Bowl

Las Vegas got a chance to host its first Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium in 2024, and the city isn’t going to have to wait long for the event to return. The NFL agreed to host the Super Bowl in Las Vegas for the 2029 season.

Davis is thrilled to see the city become such a hotbed of huge sporting events.

“Truly excited about that,” Davis said. “That was a relationship that was with the Raiders, the National Football League, and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, working together as one. Super Bowl LVIII, I think we knocked it out of the park. We re-set the bar for what it means to host the Super Bowl and I told them that we promised to raise the bar in Super Bowl LXIII.”
