The New York Rangers could be very active on the 2026 offseason trade market as the club has several interesting assets.
The New York Rangers head into their 2026 offseason looking to retool and reshape their roster for a hopeful playoff return in 2027. That said, the retool will likely involve a fair number of departing players to make room for additions this summer.
So, here’s a look at the top three Rangers players who may not be back in 2026-27.
Top 3 Rangers Players that Could Get Traded this Offseason
Taylor Raddysh
Plenty of teams out there will be looking for gritty, reliable bottom-six forwards. That description fits Taylor Raddysh. The 28-year-old will be entering the second year of a two-year deal signed last offseason.
At $1.5 million AAV, his contract shouldn’t be hard to move. It especially makes sense that the Rangers would want to trade Raddysh, as he’ll be a UFA after next season. So, the club might want to clear up a spot for a younger player who has earned some more ice time.
Realistically, Raddysh should fetch no more than a couple of mid-round picks. Still, that’s enough to continue adding to the Rangers’ stockpile. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him go as part of a larger package.
Will Borgen
Seeing Will Borgen’s name in trade chatter may be tough for some Rangers fans to digest. Borgen has actually been a marine for the club this season. He’s played tough minutes and has chipped in some offensively.
The 29-year-old will be entering the second year of a five-year extension. And that’s where his trade value lies. Teams looking for some long-term help on the blue line could look at Borgen and find a decent solution.
Borgen can play both sides, which is a huge boost to his market value. Beyond that, the relatively thin free-agent class this summer could entice other clubs to make a solid offer for Borgen.
If the Rangers get an offer they like, they could move Borgen. It might take a second-round pick and a mid-tier prospect just to get the needle moving. But with his $4.1 million cap hit for the next four seasons, teams out there might be willing to overpay.
Former Rangers 1st Overall Pick Alexis Lafreniere
Lafreniere has been seemingly part of endless Rangers trade chatter. But this summer could finally be the one in which the organization moves the 24-year-old. The main reason is that he doesn’t have any trade protection.
Unlike Mika Zibanejad, J.T. Miller, Vincent Trocheck, and Adam Fox, and Igor Shesterkin, the Rangers can move Lafreniere without much impediment.
It’s also worth pointing out that Lafreniere’s eight-team no-trade clause kicks in until the 2027-28 season. So, an acquiring team could look to flip the Rangers’ former first-overall pick at next year’s deadline, whether he has a good season or not.
As for the price tag, that could be the biggest issue. The Rangers won’t likely want to sell him cheaply. So, it will be a matter of the club finding an offer it can take. It won’t be easy, but one has to think there’s an appetite to get something across the line if it’s out there.
