Robin Wright revealed that she now lives in the English countryside and is dating someone new after leaving the United States.
“America is a s–tshow,” the “Forrest Gump” star told the Sunday Times in an interview published Sunday.
“I love being in this country. There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, [or] eating a sandwich.”
“That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed,” Wright, 59, continued.
The actress shared that she’s renting a home in the Chilterns and enjoys listening to the birds every morning rather than the sound of her “neighbors’ home renovations” in Los Angeles.
“Everyone’s building a huge house and I’m just done with all that — I love the quiet,” she said. “And I’ve met my person. Finally,” she added, referring to Henry Smith.
Wright and the architect, 52, met in a bar in England nearly one year ago after she attempted to feed his dog steak.
“Henry was standing at the bar, 6ft 2in, and he put his pint down, came over to me and grabbed my shoulders,” she recalled.
“He goes, ‘Who the f–k are you?’ And I said, ‘Who the f–k are you?’ And that was it.”
Wright insisted that Smith didn’t know who she was but thought she was beautiful.
“He is a sweetheart and just a good, decent adult. He’s a man,” the “Princess Bride” star said.
Wright, however, clarified that she would never remarry after walking down the aisle three times, saying it was “just unnecessary.”
The producer was married to her first ex-husband, Dane Witherspoon, from 1986 to 1988.
She was then wed to Sean Penn from 1996 to 2010, and the exes share two kids, Dylan, 34, and son Hopper, 32.
Wright married her third ex-husband, Clement Giraudet, in 2018, and they divorced in 2022.
Aside from the “Unbreakable” star, comedians Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell have also fled the US for other European countries after Donald Trump was re-elected as the US president in 2024.
