Royal family LIVE: Updates as Jacinda Ardern is announced as a new trustee of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize
Welcome to MailOnline’s live blog for everything royal today, from the sweet thank-you cards sent by the Wales children to well wishers at Christmas to another sneak-peek into Lady Amelia Spencer’s wedding.
As the royals gear up for Maundy Thursday at York Minster this week, they may be doing things differently in their first Easter celebrations since Queen Elizabeth passed away in September 2022.
The late Queen chose to spend her Easter at Windsor Castle, with an Easter Sunday service for the whole family taking place at St George’s Chapel.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun that this year’s events are more likely to be a celebration of the family and the late Queen’s legacy, rather than a sombre occasion, as they gear up for King Charles’s coronation in just a few weeks.
She said: ‘As Easter is early this year it is also the second anniversary of Prince Philip’s death on Easter Sunday and the Queen Mum died on Good Friday of Easter 2002 – 21 years ago. I think the mood will be happy as they were all very old but reflective.’
The big week for the royal family comes after King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla’s first state visit to Germany last week, which was a roaring success by all accounts.
