Halsey is under fierce fire after fans noticed the singer’s new makeup product lacks a diverse range of shades.
Last week, Halsey – who launched her makeup line, About-Face Beauty, in 2021 – revealed her new concealers in an Instagram post.
‘I’ve spent the last three years developing the illusionist concealer to perfection in 32 shades with five undertone families,’ the post read.
Halsey, who uses she/her and they/them pronouns, went on to describe the makeup in detail, writing that it is ‘incredibly weightless’ with ‘gorgeous skincare ingredients that disguise dark circles and camouflage uneven complexion.’
‘It blurs and blends so well it’s undetectable to the eye, just like magic,’ the 31-year-old wrote.
However, the new product has now sparked criticism for its seemingly limited shade range, with fans noticing there are not many darker skin tones.
‘I love about face but what is this range?’ one complained.
Another wrote: ‘Love about face but the color gradient looks a little disappointing, there’s a lot of pale shades.’

‘What’s going on with the shade range here y’all what. I’m excited to try it but why are there like two shades for dark skin???’ said someone else.
‘Hold on girls what the hell is this shade range?’ a fourth person wrote.
About Face Beauty is described as ‘multi-dimensional makeup for everyone, everywhere,’ with fans arguing the singer’s new range of concealer is not.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Halsey’s representatives and About-Face Beauty for comment.
Halsey has previously spoken out about the need for inclusivity in beauty products. In 2018, the artist took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out hotels for their lack of diverse hair care options.
‘I’ve been traveling for years now and it’s been so frustrating that the hotel toiletry industry entirely alienates people of color,’ they wrote.
‘I can’t use this perfumed watered down white people shampoo. Neither can 50 percent of ur customers. Annoying.’
When About Face first launched in 2021, the hitmaker took to her X account to express their enthusiasm, making multiple comments about various aspects of the brand’s creation process.

In one of her tweets, the singer Halsey – who is biracial – explained that she had full creative control over the creation of the products and that she relied on her extensive background in makeup design to harness the potential of her new line.
She tweeted: ‘I am a student and a lover and every detail of this from shade names, to product ingredients, to packaging was me. I am so happy I could faint. Thanks for being so excited with me!!!!!’
The songwriter also tweeted about her vision for the line, noting that the About-Face products were developed to achieve a certain aesthetic, as opposed to making users look better.
‘I believe makeup is about feeling cool, not looking perfect,’ she wrote.
