While the San Antonio Spurs were playing the Boston Celtics, Bam Adebayo was setting NBA history. He scored 83 points against the Wizards, which is the second-most points anyone has scored in NBA history.
Victor Wembanyama had a strong game against the Celtics, as well. He finished the game with 39 points and 11 rebounds. Of course, all other performances in the league were overshadowed by Adebayo’s high-scoring game against Washington.
After the game, Wembanyama was asked about Adebayo’s scoring performance and what he thought of it. It seems he was unimpressed.

Spurs Star Victor Wembanyama Gives Nonchalant Reaction to Bam Adebayo Scoring 83
When asked about Adebayo’s scoring that many points and if it gave him inspiration to score more, he seemed unimpressed with the effort.
“Yeah, I saw… I think we’re in a league where there is plenty of inspiration to look up to. But yeah, I saw.”
It didn’t seem like he was too impressed with Adebayo despite him scoring the second-most points in the history of the league. Wembanyama is more concerned with winning games than with scoring a lot of points. Still, the Spurs star could have been a little more impressed.
Many other NBA stars gave Adebayo his flowers for that performance. It seems that Wembanyama is not one of those stars. Only Wilt Chamberlain has scored more points in a single game than Adebayo, and that is something to be proud of.
The Spurs seem to be only interested in their own team and what they need to do to become the top team in the West. Right now, they sit just two-and-a-half games behind the Thunder for the number-one seed in the Western Conference.
Perhaps Wembanyama was less than impressed with the Heat fouling at the end of the game to purposely get the ball to Adebayo so he could get past Kobe Bryant. That was the only thing that made the end of the game ridiculous.

Victor Wembanyama is Chasing a Potential MVP Season
Wembanyama is trying to become an MVP in just his third season as an NBA player. He is already locked in to be an All-NBA player, as long as he stays eligible for the awards. That would require him to play at least 65 games this season. He has started playing more back-to-backs in that pursuit.
Overtaking Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the MVP award will be tough to do. He is the best player on the best team in the league at the moment. The Spurs would have to overtake the Thunder to give Wembanyama a better shot at winning the award. Of course, he’s more worried about winning a title.
Wembanyama is trying to emerge as the best player on a title team. Right now, San Antonio has the fourth-best offense in the league thanks in part to him. That should only improve as they continue this winning streak.
