Sunday Smiles – HotAir

There are many reasons why I am thrilled that our Founding Fathers rebelled against King George and the Redcoats, who, unlike they now teach in history class, were not a British rock band.

Air conditioning, obviously. A little-known corollary to the 2nd Amendment is the right of all men to cool their houses as they like, and while many liberals have signed up for their utility’s energy saver programs that give it the right to control one’s energy use, we call those pussies “liberals” and keep them penned up in Deep Blue cities.

But even more important than the 2nd Amendment, which we exercise to protect our right to air conditioning and free speech, is the First. We have the right to say what we want, even if it offends others or the government. Again, this probably only applies outside Blue cities. I wouldn’t know, since they are all becoming no-go zones for anyone who doesn’t don a keffiyeh when they step outside their front door.

There are still some Brits longing to be free, whose ancestors didn’t have the wits to leave when the leaving was good. The original Pilgrims, you may have learned before the school system went to pot, left because they were being persecuted for having the “wrong” beliefs about how God should be worshipped.

To be honest, they were more than a little stiff-necked and could be annoying, but then again, the same could be said about the people who persecuted them. And by leaving and beginning anew on this side of the Atlantic, they helped lay the groundwork for the greatest country ever to grace God’s green earth.

Others, who didn’t agree with the Pilgrims, saw the wisdom of getting out of Dodge (or East Anglia) and pursuing their own vision of the good life, and it worked out well for all concerned.

For a brief moment, the United Kingdom learned from its descendants in the United States, probably because it elected a Prime Minister who was born of an American mother. Churchill saved the United Kingdom, and even understood that the Nazis and communists weren’t the only threat to look out for.

“Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world,” writes Stream, quoting Churchill in a widely distributed e-mail that was forwarded to Daily RFT by way of a displeased recipient. “No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.”

Unfortunately, the Spirit of 1776 in the UK died even before Churchill did, and look at them now. They are back to blasphemy laws, though instead of requiring everybody to bow down to a specific interpretation of Christianity, they are now arresting people for offending Muslims.

King Charles, who is rumored to have converted to Islam because he praises it more than he does Christianity, seems just fine with arresting Christians for insulting the Prophet. Imams can call Christians and Jews dogs, rape Christian children, and even burn down churches, as is now happening in Europe, and the powers that be turn on their own native citizens to chastise them for being so…Christian.

Not here in America. We can be jerks to anybody, which, if you ask me, is far superior. Both because it allows each of us to think for ourselves, and because it allows us to make much funnier jokes at the expense of people.
