An Aldi Australia customer was excited after recently spotting packs of Let's Party Jalapeño & Cream Cheese Poppers 200g in the freezer aisle

An intriguing and delicious-sounding party snack has generated enormous excitement among Aldi fans.

A Sydney shopper was recently strolling the frozen section of the budget supermarket chain when they spotted a savoury item they’d never seen before.

‘Fell to my knees in aisle eight,’ the customer dramatically wrote in an online discussion post.

Their post included a picture of the freezer shelf stacked with packs of Let’s Party Jalapeño & Cream Cheese Poppers 200g.

‘The final jalapeño freezer section evolution,’ the excited shopper light-heartedly added.

Priced at $4.50 a box, the new savoury frozen food intrigued many Aldi regulars.

‘You had me at jalapeño,’ read one reply.

‘Awesome, hopefully my local store stocks them,’ another added.

‘Are these good?’ someone else asked. ‘I didn’t get them when I saw them.’

Another joked: ‘I’ll get them today – I hope they’re bad because I won’t be able to out-exercise those calories. They better be awful as I have no self-restraint.’

According to the product description, this crunchy snack is filled with cream cheese and jalapeños and wrapped in a crispy coating.

Described as ‘an easy crowd pleaser that’s ideal for entertaining and sharing’, the bites are said to offer ‘a perfect balance of mild heat and smooth, rich filling.’

Some shoppers reported that they had already got their hands on the new snack to taste-test for themselves – but the response was mixed.

Some found the spicy poppers well worth a try.

‘I like them!’ confirmed one Aldi customer. ‘Crispy – but not quite spicy hot enough – so good to share with people who don’t like searing heat.’

They added that they liked to ‘dip them in a spicy sauce’, but noted that they’re ‘too filling to demolish a whole box myself’.

Another commented: ‘Flavour not bad but yeah, hardly any spice and I’m a wuss when it comes to chillies.’

Others, however, were underwhelmed, finding the cream cheese jalapeño poppers ‘sad and mushy’.

‘These are such a disappointment, I had such high hopes,’ claimed one shopper. ‘Flavourless mush even in the air fryer, and the cream cheese tastes weird.’

Another person agreed: ‘They’re rubbish. Only half jalapeño, not spicy, sad mush that shouldn’t be called cheese.’

The snack is one of several frozen items currently in the Let’s Party range, which is designed to make party catering a breeze.

Other heat-and-serve items in the frozen range include Let’s Party Oriental Selection 12 Pack 208g, $3.99, which has a mix of vegetable spring rolls, money bags and prawn toast.

The range also offers Prawn Bao Buns in a 6 pack for $3.99 and Chinese Style Pork Belly Bites 400g, $8.99, which pair perfectly together with some fresh herbs for easy entertaining or share-style dining.

The recent online Reddit discussion about the poppers snack at Aldi also sparked some playful ribbing of the excited shopper who kickstarted the thread, thanks to their dramatic claim that they ‘fell to their knees in aisle 8’ at the sight of the frozen food.

It prompted a flurry of gently humorous replies about the reaction to seeing the item in aisle 8.

‘Just saw a guy falling to his knees in aisle 8,’ read one well-liked reply.

‘Just saw a guy who saw a guy screaming with glee in aisle 8,’ another chimed in.

‘Couldn’t get any, aisle 8 was blocked up with a guy who had fallen to his knees,’ another joked.

One more joined the pile-on, replying: ‘Couldn’t even get in the store. Too many people standing around the entrance talking about aisle 8 being blocked by someone falling to their knees.’

Another added that they would be ‘rushing’ into their local Aldi tomorrow to pick up a packet – but hoped ‘aisle 8 has been mopped up by then from all the knee blood’.
