The Associated Press in Two Headlines – HotAir

I had to double-check this claim myself, and as far as I can tell, it is true.

The Associated Press has only two headlines directly addressing the Jay Jones controversy–one of the bigger election stories of the year–and both are intended to aid Jones and his troubled campaign.

Now I am not surprised that the Associated Press would try to help Jones out. They are, after all, almost openly partisan these days. But even MSNBC and The Washington Post are acknowledging that Jones has a serious character problem and that criticisms of his longing for the assassination of, and actual fantasies about murdering a colleague, are a bit troubling. Perhaps even disqualifying for a man who wants to be the highest-ranking law enforcement official in a state.

Not the Associated Press, which is actually hewing closer to the rhetorical line that Jones’ fellow Democrats in Virginia have put out.

I wrote a piece yesterday about l’affaire Jones, and I put in a throwaway line about not having seen a “pounce” or “seize” headline yet. As John proved last night, I was apparently too flooded with other stories to catch the Associated Press’s “seize” story.

In the midst of a left-wing murder and riot spree, Democrats are telling their voters not to get “distracted” by the kind of talk that happens at every cocktail party Democrats attend. Who hasn’t wanted to shoot a colleague in the head? And really, don’t the mothers of children being sired by conservatives deserve the anguish of having their children die in their arms?

Democrats are beginning to coalesce around and re-endorse Jones for the Attorney General slot, including some with gusto. Abigail Spanberger and many of her fellow Virginia politicians point to Jones’ non-apology apology as proof that he has learned his lesson, and the Associated Press’s apology headline emphasizes that point.

The “Republicans Seize” headline reinforces the idea that Republicans don’t have a legitimate criticism of Jones and that any controversy is manufactured and should be ignored.

Who, but a seizing and pouncing Republican, could even imagine that seriously arguing for the murder of a Republican was a bad thing?

He who is without sin cast the first stone, you know.

“Everybody does it.” Perhaps in Democrat circles, where Associated Press reporters spend most of their time except when slumming, but I can assure you that this is not the case with Republicans.

Of course, by now we know every accusation by Democrats is an admission. Jones’s sin was sending the texts to a Republican and expounding on his political philosophy of murder at length and in writing, not his actual desire to kill off his political opponents.

Democrats are desperate to convince people that political violence is a “both sides” problem, “pouncing” on what appears to be an accidental fire at a judge’s house and accusing Republicans of setting it.

Dan Goldman, a sitting Congressman and one of the designated liars of the Democratic Party (designated liars are trotted out to make the most obviously false accusations against Republicans; Adam Schiff is another), directly accused Republicans of setting the fire.

“Both sides” is a companion claim to “Republican seize.” The goal is to shift the conversation from a Democratic Party scandal to Republicans’ perfidy.

The Associated Press is a charter member of Pravda Media and, in many ways, more influential than The New York Times or Washington Post. Its stories appear everywhere, and unlike the Times of Post, they don’t have the stink of partisanship because they are not presented as coming from a “brand.” They are supposed to be generic. Almost anything you read that is not local news comes from or is influenced by the AP.

The AP is even the holder of the schedule; when people hold news conferences, they notify the AP Daybook.

Polymarket still has Jay Jones as the likely winner of the Virginia AG race, and assuming nothing new comes out that is more shocking than this scandal, I tend to agree with Polymarket betters.

Ugh. It makes me ill.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
