A hidden discovery about the popular activewear brand Lululemon has left women everywhere gobsmacked.
Melina Tesi, a self-confessed long-time fan of the sportswear brand, recently shared a surprising finding about the brand’s signature jackets that she previously had no idea about.
‘Just now finding out that Lululemon has an emergency hair tie on their jackets,’ she wrote on her @melinatestbeauty account.
Melina then proceeded to demonstrate the secret feature in a 10-second video that has been viewed over 2.5 million times.
Zipping the jacket up by the brand’s signature elastic toggle with a metal logo clip, Melina proceeded to unfurl it from the jacket and hold it up to reveal a very cute hair tie.
The stunned woman then fashioned her long curly hair into a ponytail using the elastic removed from the jacket to fasten it in place.
Lululemon’s own website confirms that a number of current jackets have this little-known feature. When you click on particular jacket styles, it is explicitly stated as the last point under the section ‘Product Feature’.
There, in addition to detailing the jacket’s style and materials, the final point states: ‘Elastic zipper doubles as an emergency hair tie’.
Lululemon fan Melina Tesi recently shared a video revealing that she had made a discovery about the brand’s signature jackets
The video, shared to her @melinatesibeauty account, showed how the elastic toggle on the zip could be released and used as an ’emergency hair tie’
Melina’s post stunned many fellow Lululemon devotees – who similarly had no idea about the hush-hush feature.
‘Omg I didn’t know this,’ one shocked woman responded.
‘NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MIND BLOWN,’ added another.
‘Is that what that’s for?’ another stunned reply added.
A number of Lululemon jacket owners couldn’t believe they’d completely missed this detail and intended on making up for lost time.
‘Better late than never I guess,’ read one reply.
‘I need to try this!’ agreed another.
In the current Lululemon range listed on their Australian website, the secret hair tie features in several designs from their Define jacket collection.
Lululemon’s website confirms the little-known detail about some of the jackets in their ‘Define’ range. Under ‘Product Features’. It says: ‘Elastic zipper doubles as an emergency hair tie’
The ’emergency hair tie’ appears on the white Lululemon Define Oversized Jacket Luon, $189
The ’emergency hair tie’ appears on their classic Define Jacket Nulu, $169, which comes in seven different colourways.
It’s also a hidden detail on the range’s hooded jackets, like their Define Hooded Jacket Nulu $179 and Define Cropped Hooded Jacket Nulu $179 – both available in a number of colour options.
Other styles in the range that have the ’emergency hair tie’ feature include the Define Cropped Jacket Ribbed Nulu $169, Define Track Jacket Luon $169, Define Mesh-Back Jacket Nulu, Define Oversized Jacket Luon $189 and Define Cropped Jacket Nulu $169.
However, some Lululemon fans who were in the know were surprised that others hadn’t cottoned onto this feature earlier.
‘I had an employee at Lululemon tell me that it was a hair tie when I bought a hoodie once,’ confirmed one fan of the brand.
‘It’s listed in the product description,’ added another.
‘Most of their bags also have the hair tie/zipper pull,’ another regular shopper helpfully added.
One woman even confessed that she’d acquired one by chance – and absolutely loved it.
The hidden zip feature was also visible in website images for the Lululemon Define Mesh-Back Jacket Nulu in Ashen Rose, $169 (left) and Define Cropped Jacket Ribbed Nulu in Walnut Crunch, $169 (right)
‘I was outside once and I found this black Lululemon hair tie and I took it. I’m still using it and it’s my fave ever since,’ she revealed.
Women with thicker hair, however, lamented that if they did happen to be in need of an emergency hair tie, the one provided on the jacket simply wouldn’t cut it.
‘That would not make even a single loop around my thick a** hair,’ one woman laughed. ‘But I love it, super cool.’
However, a few of the replies couldn’t help but make a cheeky dig about the price of the high-end active wear.
‘I would hope for $150 that it has a hair tie,’ laughed one reply.
‘Most expensive hair tie ever,’ seconded another.
