The View’s Sunny Hostin has confirmed she is dealing with painful throat issues after sparking concern from viewers.
The co-host, 57, revealed that she has vocal cord nodules, which have been impacting the quality of her voice for the last four months.
Speaking on Monday’s episode of The View’s companion podcast, Behind the Table, Hostin explained that the issues started after she went on vacation and that it ‘hurts to talk.’
‘This started in December when I went away and was in a very arid place, very dry,’ she said.
‘I didn’t drink enough water.
‘Apparently, this is something that happens to singers, people that talk for a living, which is what I do. I’ve always done it, actually, even as an attorney.’
Hostin added that while she has sought out medical advice, she didn’t like the answers after doctors suggested either vocal cord rest, injection or surgery.
She also revealed she consulted ChatGPT for help, which presented her with ‘similar advice.’

The presenter wrapped up her announcement by sharing that she will seek a medical opinion elsewhere.
‘Hopefully, ChatGPT is wrong and the first doctor is wrong and there’s a throat coat thing that I can use and get rid of it,’ she said.
According to Cleveland Clinic, vocal cord lesions are noncancerous growths that may form on one or both vocal cords.
They include nodules, polyps and cysts and form due to vocal overuse or misuse. Treatments include voice therapy, behavior changes to improve your vocal health and surgery.
Last week, concerned viewers questioned whether Hostin might have the same vocal issues as Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who underwent surgery in January.
‘It seems she talks less and her voice gets weaker and more scratchy by the day but it hasn’t been acknowledged as far as I know,’ one fan pointed out on Reddit at the time.
Another responded, ‘I’ve noticed that too… she sounds so hoarse.’
‘I made a post about this recently wondering the same thing,’ added a third.

In January, NBC anchor Guthrie, 54, had surgery to remove a vocal cord polyp and nodule which was causing her to have a hoarse voice.
Before going under the knife, she said she was ‘really excited’ to have received her diagnosis after years of struggling to understand what was wrong.
After the one-hour surgery, she said she was tasked with ‘maybe one of the hardest assignments of my life’ as she had to be on vocal rest and ‘stay silent’ for eight days.
