They Always Threaten Violence – HotAir

I assume that liberals hear these statements differently than I do, but I also assume that it is because they are conditioned to believe that anybody they don’t like is a violent white supremacist bent on colonialist genocide.

After all, in the moments after Charlie Kirk was shot, vast numbers of people blamed Kirk for being a divisive figure, and many were glad he died.

But when I see politicians and commentators, or even reporters, speculating about escalating violence and defending rioting as peaceful First Amendment activity, I hear what I believe they are really saying: stop opposing us, or we will get you.

What do “Stand Your Ground” laws have to do with YouTubers showing up at daycare centers? Stand your ground laws merely say you don’t have a duty to retreat when you are attacked, and no YouTuber or reporter is threatening anybody with anything except exposure.

What I hear is “You better watch out.” And I hear that because left-wing violence and threats of violence are everywhere, leftists will even tell pollsters that they support political violence.

Liberals have been very clear that they view even speech—even SILENCE—as violence, and have created what is now called an “assassination culture” that celebrates Luigi Mangione, and inspires people, including doctors, teachers, judges, and some political commentators to celebrate the death of political figures they hate.

Democratic political figures are getting more and more explicit about their threats of violence. A couple of months ago Democratic Congressman Jim Himes compared Trump’s fight against narco traffickers to assassinating American citizens, and warned that when a Democratic president enters office, she might use Trump’s war on narco-terrorists as an excuse to kill American citizens here at home.

Who thinks like that? Leftists do. I think its just flies over liberals’ heads because it is inconceivable that the people they support actually believe this stuff, but the fact is that they do. They say it out loud.

It’s not a right-wing conspiracy theory to point this out. Tim Walz joked about Trump’s death being “good news,” and of course, there were two assassination attempts on Trump’s life (that we know of), the murder of Charlie Kirk, the shootings at synagogs, the Annunciation Church Shooting by a trans murderer, of whom there have been several. When Audrey Hale shot children at school in Nashville, the protesters who went to the Tennessee Capitol to support trans people identified her as a victim of the mass murder, too.

These people went to the Capitol to, at least partly, support a mass murderer. Think about that.

Leftism always, always, ALWAYS results in violence. It is in the DNA of the movement, which is inherently totalitarian. I am, of course, not talking about supporters of social insurance states, which we traditionally thought of as political liberals in the United States, but the utopians who talk about “decolonizing” America, “social justice,” “structural racism,” and the like, who make up a good chunk of the base of the Democratic Party.

These messages are not coming from loons on the far left. Every movement has loons with broken minds who will do anything. They are from modern-day Jacobins (I often point out that prominent left-wing magazine is actually CALLED “Jacobin”) who believe that violence is necessary to destroy the current society.

We often use the metaphor of “fighting” in politics, but in most cases the people using those words mean verbally and at the ballot box. Political mobilization.

Leftists mean it literally. They talk about taking it to the streets, then they take it to the streets. They talk about impeding law enforcement, and they go out and attack law enforcement. They talk about firebombing Tesla dealerships, and they go out and firebomb Tesla dealerships.

Liberals look away, or excuse the violence by saying that conservatives are responsible for being assaulted and killed. If only we gave in and let the left get whatever it wants, everything would be OK.

They find the violence distasteful, of course. Riots make their commutes slightly more difficult, but none of them actually fear that the right will retaliate. So they look away when their politicians stoke the fires.

Then they go out and vote for Jay Jones, because it is the compassionate thing to do.
