Tiffany Haddish tells Elton John’s Oscar crowd she’s sober because she’s ‘trying to get pregnant’

Maybe the jokes on them?

Motherhood was on Tiffany Haddish’s mind during her co-hosting duties at Elton John’s annual AIDS Foundation Oscar party on Sunday.

Partygoers noticed Haddish avoiding the booze at the gala and whenever someone asked her why she wasn’t drinking, the comedian responded, “I am trying to get pregnant,” a spy told Page Six.

It’s unclear if the response was Haddish’s comedic way of dealing with constant scrutiny about her sobriety after being arrested late last year for a DUI.

Our source, however, said, “It didn’t feel like [she was joking]. She said it numerous times.”

A source close to Haddish told us although she does have aspirations of being a mother, the response about trying to get pregnant “was likely a joke.”

“She is serious about her sobriety,” the source added. “She’s kept it, and is very into her health right now. She’s going through her changes and is doing amazing.”

Haddish co-hosted the star-studded event with Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka.

Heidi Klum, Patricia Arquette, Tim Allen, Jane Seymour, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Mario Cantone and Sandra Lee were a few of the stars who came out to help John’s foundation raise over $10.8 million.

Another source told us that Haddish “bid on nearly everything in the auction. She was having the time of her life!”

The source added: “She was jovial and hilarious. She was the bright light in the room, making fun of herself and her dress. She ruled that room.”
