Timothee Chalamet’s character was smacked in the buttocks by a paddle in a scene for Marty Supreme – and his castmate Kevin O’Leary gave insight into the actor’s shocked reaction.

The 29-year-old star – whose new sports drama is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day – took on the role of a table tennis player named Marty while O’Leary played a businessman named Milton Rockwell.

In one specific scene, Marty asked Rockwell to forgive him for not competing in certain ping pong matches – prompting O’Leary’s character to tell Marty to drop his pants for a spanking with a paddle.

A double had initially been slated to stand in for Chalamet – but the actor insisted that he wanted to do the scene.

A fake paddle was also intended to be used but after it broke, a real wooden one was substituted.

‘Timmy walked in [and] said, “No, it’s got to be my a**. I’m going to immortalize my a** on film in perpetuity,’ O’Leary told Us Weekly.

So, the two actors did the scene – with O’Leary whacking Chalamet’s bare bottom with the paddle.

But after 20 takes, the movie’s director – Josh Safdie – explained that the scene did not ‘look real’ due to O’Leary hitting too lightly.

He then recalled doing yet another take soon after, which was eventually used in the film.

‘I wound up like a baseball bat, and I nailed his right cheek, and I think his eyeballs exploded out of his head, and that’s what you see.’

O’Leary said that Chalamet’s ‘reaction to that was still just great’ while also calling the Wonka star a ‘crazy trooper.’

The Shark Tank judge further gushed about working alongside the actor, saying that he ‘deserves’ an Oscar win.

While recently talking to the Daily Mail, O’Leary also opened up about first receiving the script as well as having a conversation with Safdie about his character before officially taking on the role.

‘The first thing Josh said [to me] was, “Look, let’s just clear the air on this first. We’ve been talking to a lot of people about this role and we need a real a**hole for it and you’re it,'” he said.

The star also explained that he was told to not play the role by his own agent – but O’Leary explained he wanted to jump out of his ‘comfort zone.’

He then recalled being in a room with Chalamet ahead of shooting a scene together.

‘We talked for a couple of minutes before we started about the cadence of what we were about to do.’

O’Leary continued, ‘Then Chalamet gets up, walks about 20 feet, doesn’t talk to anybody, comes back and boom. He’s in character.

‘He’s not Timmy Chalamet anymore. He’s Marty Supreme. And then it was very easy once he’s the kid, and I’m Milton, to crap on him, because he was an arrogant little a**hole.’

The star added, ‘I don’t know what the rules of acting are. I don’t care. I’ve never taken acting lessons. I probably never will. I’ll let the critics decide whether I s**t the bed or not.’

Other stars that have been cast in the upcoming project include Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Fran Drescher and Tyler Okonma – also known as Tyler, The Creator.

The premise is: ‘Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness,’ per an IMDB synopsis.

Leading up to the release of Marty Supreme in theaters, Chalamet has been doing a press tour – consisting of both physical events and jumping onto social media.

A number of celebrities have also been showing their support for the actor and the new movie by donning merch in public.

Some A-list stars have been spotted wearing a Marty Supreme jacket such as Chalamet’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Susan Boyle, Kid Cudi and Tom Brady.

Pop-up shops have also been held for fans – and the Call Me By Your Name actor recently discussed the press tour with IndieWire.

He explained that he feels Marty Supreme stands out as an ‘original film’ and is ‘about the pursuit of a dream.’

The Oscar-nominated star added, ‘I’m leaving it on the field. Whether it’s the merch or the Zoom or the media appearances, I’m trying to get this out in the biggest way possible. In the spirit of Marty Mauser.’

And during an appearance on Good Morning America, Chalamet also hinted at possibly winning an Academy Award next year.
