Tom Hanks really, really loves the New York City subway system — so much so that he penned a song about it.
The actor enthusiastically crooned a self-penned ditty praising the number 7 train at a gala celebrating The Shed, a non-profit cultural center Tuesday evening.
“I can’t tell you how great it is to be at The Shed every day,” he said in his speech. “Why? Because it is officially the last stop on the 7 train.”
The Oscar winner then sang while snapping his fingers, “The Shed is in the Hudson Yards on the Lower West Side off the High Line. Yeah, The Shed on the Lower West Side off the High Line in Hudson Yards!”
The Toy Story 5 star, 69, continued singing the same refrain, as director Kenny Leon, who was also on stage, quickly picked up the tempo.
The “Forrest Gump” actor is correct — the 7 train is conveniently located next to The Shed — where he’s performing in “This World of Tomorrow.”
He co-wrote and stars in the play about a disenchanted scientist from the future who time-travels to the 1939 World Fair.
The play is based on a short story he wrote, and is directed by Leon.
Hanks also gushed about Leon in his speech at the event on Tuesday.
“There is proof that there is a God because Kenny Leon came to direct ‘This World of Tomorrow,’” he said.
The actor added, “I cannot tell you the blessing that has come about us because of his guidance, his uncompromising, eh, let’s just call it motherf–kery, how about that? Can I say that at The Shed?”
Hanks explained that he had to leave to go get ready for the performance, and joked that the cast, which includes Kelli O’Hara, “Gets so tanked and wasted on our days off.”
Meryl Streep, Martin Short, Katie Holmes, Steve Martin, along with Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson and son Chet Hanks, were spotted in the audience.
The starry evening honored retired ballerina Misty Copeland and New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
Hanks made headlines last month when he was snapped riding the 6 train incognito.
He was seen wearing a mask to hide his face.
