The Buffalo Bills have won five straight AFC East crowns.
Ahead of the Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets, starting safety Tony Adams said it’s time for a change.
“It’s time to win the division,” Adams told ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “It’s time for things to change. That’s what [Aaron Glenn] always preaches: It’s time for things to change.”
The Jets haven’t won the division since 2002.
The Jets Have a Lot to Overcome
A+ for effort from Adams on his bold words ahead of this divisional matchup. However, the green and white will have to make a lot of things happen for that to become a reality.
Not only have the Bills won the divisional title five years in a row, but the most recent crown in 2024 was achieved dominantly.
Last year, the Bills “became the first team since 2009 to clinch a division title with 5+ games left in the regular season.”
In other words, they dominated their division so thoroughly that the team was able to cruise through the rest of the season, which included another month plus of games.
Head coach Aaron Glenn told the media this week that the fastest way to the playoffs is through your division. It’s true. A division winner is guaranteed not only a playoff spot but also a home playoff game.
For the Jets, they might want to start with a win on Sunday and then see where things go from there.
Buffalo has won three in a row, four of the last five, and eight of the last ten in this rivalry.
Jets Will Have Their Promising Rookie on the Field
The green and white are underdogs at home to the Bills. That means they will need some extra things to happen to pull off the victory.
Those efforts will be helped by some big injury news.
“Jets TE Mason Taylor, who missed time in practice with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable, is expected to play vs the Bills,” NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo shared on Sunday, September 14. “He practiced fully on Friday.”

Taylor, according to head coach Aaron Glenn, reinjured the same ankle he had hurt during training camp, which forced him to miss a week. That raised the level of concern, especially after several days of limited practice this week.
Taylor had one reception for 20 receiving yards in his NFL debut in Week 1.
Time to Set the Tone for the Jets
This is Coach Glenn’s first divisional game.
These games often count as double, as former coach Rex Ryan used to say. The Jets haven’t won the division in a long time, nor have they fared very well in it during the last 15 years.
Coach Glenn needs to establish a tone that this is a new era of Jets football and that starts in Week 2 inside the division.
