Tuesday's Final Word – HotAir

Closing the tabs

Ed: Maybe someone should send this over to Rashida Tlaib, eh? More seriously, the Saudis have made it crystal clear on their official media platforms that they are through with the whole Palestinian cause. That began several years ago, when Prince Bandar delivered an hour-long rant about the perfidious nature of the PLO. They want off the Palestinian merry-go-round.

PoliticoA federal appellate court on Tuesday sided with the Environmental Protection Agency in the pitched legal battle over Administrator Lee Zeldin’s termination of $20 billion in Biden-era climate grants, a major victory for the Trump administration’s bid to cancel hundreds of environmental grants and boost fossil fuel production.

The jilted grant recipients are expected to appeal the decision, but even if it’s ultimately upheld, additional litigation will follow — and EPA could find itself on the hook for the outstanding balance, a possibility attorneys at EPA and the Justice Department warned of in internal emails reported by POLITICO in April. …

“The grantees are not likely to succeed on the merits because their claims are essentially contractual, and therefore jurisdiction lies exclusively in the Court of Federal Claims,” wrote Judge Neomi Rao, joined by Judge Gregory Katsas. Both were named to the bench by Trump in his first term.

“And while the district court had jurisdiction over the grantees’ constitutional claim, that claim is meritless,” Rao continued. “Moreover, the equities strongly favor the government, which on behalf of the public must ensure the proper oversight and management of this multi-billion-dollar fund.”

Ed: Well … DUUUHHH. No one is entitled to a federal grant, not until the money is delivered. And even then, when the cash comes through deception, the executive branch can claw it back. That’s why we have elections.

===

Ed: Despicable. This isn’t science as much as it is fashion, and the fashion sense is mutilation. This is sheer quackery, and it is long past time for ‘doctors’ pushing untested regimes to be held accountable in those terms — especially those who push it on children.

NY PostChicago’s Labor Day weekend bloodbath left eight people dead and scores wounded – while left-wing Mayor Brandon Johnson continued to rail against President Trump’s proposed National Guard deployment to tackle the city’s crime.

At least 58 people were shot across the city, with gunfire erupting in at least 32 different shootings throughout the holiday weekend, WLS reported.

One neighborhood saw two mass shootings within 48 hours – with seven people being injured in a drive-by shooting Saturday night, and five more being wounded blocks away Monday.

Ed: Trump can’t deploy the National Guard for law enforcement purposes without Pritzker’s authorization, and Johnson has no say in that either way. Pritzker refuses to allow it. However, that leaves the two Democrats with a very large problem, because Trump’s success in DC will have Chicagoans demanding similar results from Johnson and Pritzker by some other means — and fast. And they have absolutely no way to deliver without going to Trump.

===

Ed: Shorter Pritzker: SQUIRREL! Big cities have too much crime, and they have too much crime because progressives won’t enforce the law. You know how we can demonstrate this? By paying attention to what Trump is doing in Washington DC.

Newsweek: On Friday, false rumors about Trump’s death began circulating across social media after reports said he wasn’t seen in public for two days. As of 9:15 a.m. ET on Saturday ‘#whereistrump’ was the sixth most popular trending topic on X in the United States.

Some 158,000 X posts including the phrase ‘TRUMP IS DEAD’ and 42,000 stating ‘TRUMP DIED’ had been made as of 7:48 a.m. ET. on Saturday, according to the platform’s analytics.

On Tiktok, a video posted by user w0odada with the caption “Streets are saying donald trump is dead??? And he hasnt been seen publicly since Tuesday???” received over 600,000 likes and 3.5 million views.

Ed: It’s the “Paul Is Dead” of our era, I guess. What a stupid rumor to go viral. Only the most desperate and/or idiotic Trump-haters could possibly fall for it. And that brings us to …

===

Ed: Gov. JazzHands McSnitchLine strikes again. Seems pretty weird to be rooting for the death of a president, no?

Mediaite: Cabrera asked whether Mamdani living in a rent-stabilized apartment spoke to the affordability issues he talks about, since he needs to find ways to afford to live in New York as well.

“There’s a difference there. He doesn’t need it. As a matter of fact, he wouldn’t probably qualify for it under previous laws. He got into it at a certain age, and when he was making less money, yes. But given the fact that he is making a combined income of hundreds of thousands of dollars, you can talk about affordability, but you shouldn’t look like a hypocrite when you’re doing it,” Del Percio said, arguing Mamdani should have moved into a new residence before running for mayor.

“This is all nonsense,” Hardaway eventually said as he and Del Percio competed to talk over each other.

Ed: Is this news? Most socialists live off other people’s money. It’s their distinguishing characteristic.

Ed: When we say the Left can’t meme, this is exactly what we mean. Who’s running the Hochul press office, anyway — rando middle-school students? Even more hilariously, this was a response to a CNBC article from three weeks ago. Glad to see Hochul’s rapid response team get their response time to within a month!

ABC News: An 18th-century portrait stolen by the Nazis during WWII is believed to have resurfaced in the most unexpected place: hanging above a sofa in a coastal Argentinian home and discovered not by law enforcement or a museum, but spotted in a photo on a real estate website.

The painting, “Portrait of a Lady” by Italian baroque artist Giuseppe Vittore Ghislandi, belonged to Jacques Goudstikker, a prominent Dutch-Jewish art dealer whose collection of more than 1,100 works was seized after the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands in 1940. Senior Nazi officials, including Hermann Göring, acquired hundreds of pieces, according to the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE).

The potential discovery is the result of years of work by Dutch daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad (AD) investigative journalists Cyril Rosman, Paul Post and Peter Schouten, who have been pursuing the case for nearly a decade.

Ed: Let’s hope that Javier Milei gets to the bottom of this quickly. There are still a large number of looted artworks left to be discovered and returned. The families of those victimized by the Nazis have waited far too long for justice to be served, and for their artwork to come back to their control. Maybe we should look at Zillow for some of the others.

Ed: IT’S AI! IT’S ALIENS! THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE! BE AFRAID BE VERY AFRAID!
