Fuming: Fans were left furious on Friday after X-Factor boyband Union J cancelled their reunion tour without any public announcement

‘We had to find out on Ticketmaster!’ Union J fans vent their fury after the X Factor boyband CANCEL their reunion tour without any warning

Fans were left furious on Friday after X-Factor boyband Union J cancelled their reunion tour without any public announcement.

The band first rose to fame as a contestant on The X Factor in 2012, where they came fourth in the competition and later signed a recording contract with Sony.

Though the group officially disbanded in 2019, in December 2022, they announced that they would be getting back together for a reunion tour in spring 2023.

They were set to perform in Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and Liverpool.

But taking to Twitter, one fan was left fuming after receiving an email that her ticket for the concert at Liverpool Empire Theatre was refunded.

The email read: ‘Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the promoters of the show have taken the difficult decision to cancel the performance that was due to take place on 03 June 2023.

‘We understand the disappointment this will cause and apologise for any inconvenience.’

Hitting out at the band, the fan captioned the post: ‘The silence from them on all of this is actually disrespectful.’

Replying to a comment about whether this was just for Liverpool or not, she confirmed the cancellation applied to the ‘whole tour’ and said ‘don’t know why they haven’t said anything’.

Other fans were also left angry, as one wrote: ‘So Union J are posting on the personal accounts, but haven’t said anything about the tour cancellation!

Another wrote: ‘lads pls don’t use the band account on Insta to promote your own stuff when you can’t even give us a reason (as of yet) to why there is no tour You’re just gonna add fuel to the fire.’

‘Kind of low-key glad I never got tickets if this is how they are going about it. I love them but they HAVE to ADDRESS this matter’, a third added.

A fourth penned: ‘Not union j cancelling their tour and we all find out through ticketmaster… what stopped them telling us themselves.’

A fifth said: ‘As if union j cancelled their tour and they haven’t put anything out on their socials formally???

‘After spending all that money and only finding out via Twitter is disgraceful.’

The group were founded as a four-piece on the talent show alongside George Shelley, who quit the group in 2016. They were initially signed to RCA Records and released their first single in June 2013.

Stereo Kicks singer and later Ex On The Beach star Casey Johnson, who shares two children with Marnie Simpson, replaced George in 2016 yet bosses soon dropped him.

The band were set to perform five special shows in 2023, as part of their reunion tour.

They also had dates for their tour scheduled for Newcastle and Glasgow in May – both of which have been cancelled.

Representatives for Union J have been contacted for comment.
