Multiple Buffalo Bills players are getting punished by the NFL ahead of their wild-card playoff game against the Jaguars.
The Buffalo Bills are known for their eternally faithful fans, but the franchise has gained one unusual enemy — the fast food chain Wendy’s.
The square-burger restaurant has gained a reputation for its biting social media presence, which in recent weeks has been aimed at the Bills. The chain has left several biting comments about the team and their playoff run, which has left many Bills fans confused.
Wendy’s Won’t Be Joining Bills Mafia
Bills fans have taken note of several comments from the official social media accounts for Wendy’s including one under a recent post from the NFL. The league shared a list of the five playoff teams that have never won a Super Bowl, prompting a biting reply from Wendy’s
“Four impressive teams…and then the Buffalo Bills” the chain commented.
The chain has left several other comments expressing displeasure with the Bills, though it’s not exactly clear why. Wendy’s has its corporate headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, which is in the central part of the state and not near any real rivals of the Bills.
Buffalo radio station WYKR confirmed that the comments are coming from the verified account of the fast food chain, but did not have any further insight into the reason.
“Someone commented that they thought it was a fake page,” the station noted in a report. “However, if you click on the verified page, it goes directly to the Wendy’s official Facebook page. So now Bills Mafia is wondering what the heck we did to Wendy’s to make them want to take us on. Also, do they remember they have restaurants here in Western New York too?”
Bills Winning Over Other Critics
The Bills advanced to the divisional round after last week’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and will face the No. 1-seeded Denver Broncos for a trip to the AFC title game. The team’s play in the first round of the playoffs converted one longtime critic of the team and quarterback Josh Allen, FS1 analyst Nick Wright.
Wright took to social media after Sunday’s win to say he believes the Bills have a path to their first Super Bowl appearance in three decades.
“Bills & Josh earned every last bit of that,” Wright shared in a post on X. “That’s a phenomenal, gutsy win against a really good Jags team. The Bills are going to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1993.”
The Bills would still face several challenges to make the Super Bowl. As the No. 6 seed, the Bills will be on the road for the remainder of the playoffs, and will face this weekend’s game on short rest. After beating the Jaguars on Sunday, the NFL scheduled the Bills to play the Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
That could present a major challenge for the Bills, who were banged up in the win over the Jaguars. The Bills lost two wide receivers — veteran Gabe Davis and the versatile Tyrell Shavers — to season-ending ACL tears in the win. The Bills could get a boost, however, with the return of defensive tackle Ed Oliver and safety Damar Hamlin.
