IKEA Australia shoppers are obsessing over a $1 item with nearly 3,000 five-star reviews, with many calling it a ‘genius’ kitchen solution.
The ÖVERMÄTT food cover, which comes in a set of three for $3, doubles as a reusable lid and cling wrap – making it perfect for everything from jars and glass containers to fruit and vegetables.
The product works brilliantly for sealing bowls and drinking cups, as well as covering food – whether it’s a half-eaten cucumber or orange – keeping them fresh for longer.
What shoppers love about these reusable food covers is that they replace disposable cling wrap, helping them save money while reducing waste over time.
The silicone covers come in various sizes, ranging from small to large. There’s a $7 set of two larger covers, which fit around bigger bowls and even a dinner plate.
The products are so popular that they’ve received more than 4,300 reviews, boasting an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
‘Big bowls, medium-sized bowls, square or round, these stretchy, clingy covers do more than I expected. I use them to cover containers to hold my fruit and veggies in my fridge and they work a treat. When I have prepped ingredients for cooking, on goes a cover to keep them fresh and odours out of the fridge,’ one raved.
‘I love these colourful covers. I love them so much I bought more. They stretch and cling to fit over my bowls and containers so easily. I have used other products which claim to do the same, but they don’t match up to these little beauties,’ another said.

‘What a little treasure these covers are. Absolutely brilliant,’ one shared.
‘I absolutely love these covers! I bought a set a while ago and had to come back recently to buy more. Quality is great and they are easy to use and wash. And they can fit on different size cups, mugs and bowls,’ another added.
Many said the covers are perfect for wrapping up half-eaten fruits and vegetables.
‘I love these seals. Great size selection. I use the purple/hot pink one on our dog’s canned food tins. The little one is fabulous for that half lemon or lime,’ one said.
‘These are an excellent idea instead of using plastic wrap – they seal well. Can put over anything you cut such as cucumber, avocados and onions,’ another shared.
‘Love these! We pop these over fruit and vegetables we haven’t used all up. It keeps them fresh and good to keep using. Easy to wash and great for no-waste living… Simple, reusable solution to keeping produce fresh,’ one revealed.
‘I wanted to use these covers to reduce my cling film usage. The larger one fits my dinner plates easily and the smaller bowls I use regularly. Easy to clean and dry. They are brilliant, easy to apply and keep my food fresh. I don’t use plastic wrap at all anymore partly due to these,’ another added.

Earlier this month, Nagi Maehashi sent shoppers rushing to buy the must-have $29 frying pan from IKEA that she believed was better than $300 European brands.
The famous Aussie cook behind RecipeTin Eats said she stopped spending hundreds of dollars on high-end cookware after she discovered the affordable alternative.
The HEMKOMST frying pan has since become her go-to in the kitchen.
‘The best non-stick frypan is from IKEA,’ Nagi said on her Instagram Stories.
‘I stopped buying $300 European brands years ago. This IKEA one does the job just as well, lasts just as long and is a fraction of the price.
‘Works well on induction. Oven proof. Steep sides for max flat base searing area. My most used pan.’

The popular cookbook author owns all three sizes – 28cm (currently on sale for $29, reduced from $35), 24cm ($25) and 32cm ($39).
’28cm is my all rounder – good size for regular stove heating elements… 32cm for clans, you need a wide heat source and 24cm for nuts and a single sunny side up egg,’ she said.
Nagi said she discovered the IKEA frying pans after a chef recommended them.
‘I got the tip from a chef, read about it in an interview. He said he uses IKEA pans in his restaurant,’ she explained.
The frying pan is made from stainless steel with a non-stick coating, is oven-safe, easy to use, and compatible with most hobs – including induction and gas.
Her recommendation sent fans wild, with one saying: ‘If Nagi says they’re the best, then you’d best believe I’m heading to IKEA.’
