Equipped with a new body, M3GAN sets out to defeat AMELIA, but the mission is met with several twists and turns. What follows was an intriguing array of fight scenes and a display of innovative technology. Gemma also discovers that her partner, Christian, isn’t who he says he is.
M3GAN 2.0 Reveals The Killer Doll Never Left
In the first film, it was presumed that M3GAN was destroyed after she turned rogue and killed a few people. However, the sequel didn’t just mark her return, but also revealed that she never died. It turns out the killer robot preserved a backup of her mind in Gemma’s devices at home, where she discreetly groomed herself in the last two years. During their mission to stop AMELIA from getting the motherboard, Gemma and her squad follow the killer doll into a secret lair where it is revealed that AMELIA is not the enemy but a mere puppet in the hands of Christian, the philanthropist Gemma trusted so much. Christian’s obsession with regulating the reign of AI among humans drove him to create AMELIA, projecting her as a rogue robot to make a statement.
Met with resistance from Gemma, Christian resorts to implanting a neural AI device in her head to control her like a puppet. Unknown to him, M3GAN uploaded herself into the device and was able to talk to Gemma without anyone noticing. To defeat AMELIA, M3GAN suggests they use the self-destruct device Gemma created as a safety precaution when she revived M3GAN. She got close enough for Gemma to press the button, killing both robots.
How M3GAN 2.0 Ending Sets Up Another Sequel
While an official announcement has not been made, M3GAN 3 is likely to hit the theaters for obvious reasons. After detonating the device that killed both M3GAN and AMELIA, Gemma and Cody get back to their normal lives.
