William H. Macy fights neighbor's $600K lawsuit for cutting down his trees

William H. Macy “denies” claims that he had his landscapers “knowingly and intentionally” cut down his neighbor’s trees — which resulted in a $600k lawsuit.

The “Shameless” alum fired back at his neighbor, Pierce Brown, for alleging that he “seriously damaged several healthy, decades-old mature pine trees and other vegetation from the Brown Property.”

According to court documents obtained by People on Friday, Macy “denies, generally and specifically, each and every allegation” of wrongdoing.”

In fact, he claims that Brown was the one acting “careless, reckless, and negligent in and about the matters and things alleged.”

Yet Macy did not deny having landscaping done, instead saying it was an “immediate and imperative necessity … to protect persons from death or serious bodily injury or to protect land or chattel from destruction or injury.”

Due to this, the actor is demanding that the entire case be dismissed with prejudice.

As Page Six previously reported, Brown filed a lawsuit against Macy back in April, alleging that the actor instructed his workers to cut down trees past his property line, damaging his gate in the process.

Although Brown was on vacation at the time, he claimed that Macy, 73, came over the following month and “acknowledged” the damage — which allegedly “destabilized” the entire hillside.

Brown was seeking $600,000 in return, citing “loss of property value, loss of use and enjoyment of his property, a loss of privacy, an increase in noise, as well as emotional distress, irritation, annoyance, and discomfort.”

The project in question occurred in December 2021.
