Yankees linked to makeing surprising move with Jasson Dominguez
The New York Yankees could make a surprising decision on outfielder Jasson Dominguez
New York brought back Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham to keep their outfield intact. Yet, that left the future of Dominguez and Spencer Jones in doubt, and the team could make a surprising move.
The Yankees beat on Roundtable Sports urged New York to keep Dominguez and Jones in the minors and sign veteran outfielder Mike Tauchman as the fourth outfielder.
“So with the Yankees apparently searching for a fourth outfielder, why not consider Mike Tauchman? Remember Mike Tauchman spent parts of three seasons with the Yankees in 2019 and 2021 and flashed incredible defensive capabilities for the Yankees in the outfield,” they said in the video. “He’d still represent a very, very good option for the Yankees who are searching for a fourth outfielder to replace Jasson Dominguez.”
Tauchman would be an intriguing option for the Yankees’ fourth outfielder. Although New York is looking for a right-handed bat, Tauchman actually hits lefties better, which could make him a fit.
He also has experience playing in the Bronx, so he should fit in with this current group, as manager Aaron Boone knows how to play him.
Tauchman hit .263 with 9 home runs and 40 RBIs last season with the Chicago White Sox.
New York Looking to Add Another Bat
The Yankees have had a quiet offseason, but that may change as the team is looking to add an impact bat.
Yankees insider Brendan Kuty of The Athletic said the team is looking to add a bat, and preferably a right-handed bat.
“The New York Yankees are searching for a right-handed outfield bat in free agency and the trade market, multiple league sources tell The Athletic,” Kuty wrote. “The club has been gauging prices of potential additions after re-signing outfielder Cody Bellinger — another lefty bat in a projected Opening Day roster that would currently skew heavily left-handed — and veteran outfielder Randal Grichuk is among the many options it’s been considering, sources said. One of the sources, however, said the team wasn’t leaning in any particular direction yet and wasn’t close to making a move.”
The Yankees have been linked to the likes of Grichuk and Ty France, among others, but so far, no deal has been made.
Yankees GM Denies They’re Running Back Same Team
The Yankees haven’t made any major moves, but general manager Brian Cashman denied that the team is running back the same team.
Instead, Cashman pointed to the moves made at last year’s deadline who now have a full year and some players returning from injuries.
“We added weapons at the deadline,” Cashman said. “All that will serve us well. So, I disagree that it’s the same team; there are going to be some differences. The competition is going to be different, too. Some teams got better, and other teams you could argue maybe got worse. Our division is the best in baseball. Long story short, one series make-or-break isn’t going to define what we think our capabilities are.”
Whether or not the lack of moves will backfire is to be seen. But the Yankees are once again one of the favorites to win the World Series.
