A 22-year-old woman has revealed the chilling late-night messages she received from her holiday home host – with thousands branding the man ‘creepy’, ‘sinister’ and ‘wholly inappropriate’.

Posting to Reddit, the woman explained she was on a girls’ trip with three friends when their host, a man she guessed was in his mid-30s, began bombarding her with unsettling compliments.

The exchange started innocently enough when the host texted her to express how good-looking he thought she was.

‘At the risk of sounding “creepy”… you are devastatingly attractive. May I know your age?’ he wrote.

The woman, who does not disclose her name in the thread, replied that she was 22.

‘You have stunning eyes… one could surely get lost in them. There’s a spark in your eyes that is hard to fake. You must live a healthy lifestyle,’ he continued.

The guest tried to steer the chat by mentioning her boyfriend, but the host only doubled down.

‘Lucky boyfriend. Where are you from?’

He then clarified he wanted to know her ethnicity, not her nationality, and went on to say that he didn’t think England produced such ‘exotic beauties’.

When she admitted she was of mixed background, he wrote back praising her ‘rare’ combination, which is where the conversation turned very sinister.

‘… As exotic as I had presumed,’ he wrote. ‘It explains your pretty, delicate face contrasted with your womanly body… heavy assets and small waist… You’d make an excellent shibari bunny.’

The young woman said she had no idea what a shibari bunny was, until she Googled it – discovering it referred to a Japanese bondage practice.

‘My jaw dropped,’ she recalled. ‘I felt shivers down my spine and immediately searched up a hotel I can stay at for the remainder of our stay.’

While she said her three friends agreed the messages were indeed creepy, they insisted she was ‘ruining the vibe’ by leaving the home and accused her of overreacting.

She ignored their pleas to stay and checked into a hotel 15 minutes away for the remainder of the trip.

When she told her dad about the encounter, she admitted he was ‘murderous’ at the host’s actions.

Commenters rushed to reassure her she had done the right thing by leaving the host’s home.

‘Protect yourself,’ one wrote.

‘Your friends had the “give him the benefit of the doubt” response that has unfortunately been trained into most women and won’t serve them well until they unlearn it. Report him to [the company] immediately.’

Another added that they had to Google what a ‘shibari bunny’ was and were just as horrified at what they discovered.

‘Wtfffff,’ they exclaimed. ‘I would hate having friends who believed in “giving the benefit of the doubt” to a total stranger who said he wants to tie you up?’

Others agreed in branding the host a ‘total creep’, with one pointing out that even after telling him she had a boyfriend, ‘the international “please stop being inappropriate” sign’, he doubled down.

‘I’d report this once you are well away,’ they added.

A fourth summed up the mood bluntly: ‘I find it not only wholly inappropriate but also alarmingly sinister.’

The young traveller is now asking if she overreacted by fleeing the property – but judging by the furious reactions online, most agree her gut instinct may have kept her safe.
