In an interview, Kelly called her character turbulent, adding that she’s ‘covering up a lot of vulnerability and pain.’ She read poetry from Sylvia Plath to channel her fear and angst in a bid to make her emotionally wounded character, who’s trying to connect with the cheer squad, more relatable. Kelly disclosed that she took inspiration from the TV series, “The O.C.” and the film series, “Mean Girls’ to play her character perfectly.

In 2022, Kelly was cast for the starring role of Jamie Murdock in the Peacock drama miniseries “Joe vs. Carole,” which is based on a season of “Over My Dead Body” true-crime podcast entitled, “Joe Exotic: Tiger King” produced by the podcast channel, Wondery. The miniseries was created by Ethan Frankel, and is about the case of the zookeeper, Joe Exotic (portrayed by John Cameron Mitchell), who is imprisoned for murder-for-hire. In addition, the series starred Kate McKinnon, Aliandra Calabrese, and Sam Keeley. Kelly appeared in seven episodes.

Kelly will portray Tatiana in the upcoming D.B. Weiss, David Benioff and Alexander Woo-created sci-fi series “3 Body Problem” The series is set in the fictional future, present and past, wherein aliens from a system of three stars resembling the sun colonize Earth and will star the likes of Eiza González, John Bradley, and Sea Shimooka. It’s based on the Chinese sci-fi writer Liu Cixin’s novel “The Three-Body Problem” – its pilot episode premieres on 21 March 2024.
