Split image of different versions of Harley Quinn across media

After being playable in Batman: Arkham Knight, Harley Quinn is returning to the Arkhamverse as one of four main characters in the spin-off Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. In Arkham Knight, Harley Quinn suffered from a severe lack of costumes compared to Batman or Robin, which the new game can easily rectify.

Across comic books, films, animated shows, and other video games, Harley has seen a plethora of redesigns that fit her wild and eccentric nature. Many of them would likely be accepted by fans of the character as optional costumes to purchase or unlock in-game.

10 Future State Harley Has A Nice Cyberpunk Style

Despite being short-lived, the Future State: Harley Quinn comics featured a gorgeous art style that heightened the cyberpunk direction of the comics. Harley Quinn’s design in the comic also matches this, with a heavy emphasis on the punk aesthetic. Future State very much comes across as something Harley put together using random clothes she found.

That’s a common aspect of Harley Quinn’s designs, but the addition of pink and blue goggles, her new hairstyle, and extra bits of gear made for a look that deserved more time in the DC universe. Rocksteady included many comic book skins for Batman in Arkham Knight so that they could do the same for Harley.

9 The Nurse Costume Can Bring Arkham Asylum Nostalgia

Batman: Arkham Knight introduced modernized versions of Batman suits from previous Arkham games. The same kind of treatment could be given to Harley since her design changed every game, starting with the modified nurse uniform that was a drastic departure for Harley back in 2009.

While it may not be for everyone, the Arkham Asylum look would be a nice way to treat fans that prefer that look and celebrate how far the Arkhamverse has come. As a result, this would set up for skins from bothArkham City and Arkham Knight to join the roster of skins.

8 Assault On Arkham Harley Is Underrated

Even though it is no longer canon to the Arkhamverse, the animated film Batman: Assault On Arkham gave each member of the squad a design that fit the universe. Harley’s design was essentially a reinvention of the classic jester outfit to look more gritty while still keeping the overall look that Harley is known for.

The Assault On Arkham version does not get enough credit for its design. If that exact look were translated to live-action for Margot Robbie to wear, it likely would work. However, a good alternative would be to give it to Tara Strong’s Harley Quinn with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League boasting realistic visuals.

7 Harleen Quinzel Could Be A Humorous Addition

Many games feature bonus skins for laughs, such as a nude Peter Parker as one of many suits in Marvel’s Spider-Man. Batman: Arkham Knight featured the 1966 Adam West skins for Batman and Robin, which looked so out of place in the darker Arkhamverse that it had a quirky appeal.

A similar idea could be used for Harley Quinn with her classic look when she was a doctor working at Arkham Asylum. It would be fun to see Harleen Quinzel with her doctor’s coat, hair bun, and glasses running around fighting alien monsters and DC’s finest heroes.

6 When Harley First Joined The Suicide Squad

New 52 Harley Quinn with the Suicide Squad

Harley Quinn has risen as a name synonymous with the Suicide Squad, yet she did not join the team until 2011 with the divisive New 52 era. Rocksteady could honor when she joined by introducing her New 52 costume, which was basically a jester version of a deadly roller derby skater with a lot of weapons.

Batman: Arkham Knight also featured the New 52 version of Batman. The New 52 had unique designs for all four Squad members featured in the game, so they could all receive such a treatment.

5 The First Margot Robbie Costume Is Important

Despite the less-than-stellar critical reception, the first Suicide Squad movie was an important piece of DC history. It gave multiple characters their cinematic debut, including Harley Quinn, and cemented Margot Robbie as a fan-favorite casting of the DCEU.

That deserves some recognition, especially in a Suicide Squad game that looks to be taking some cues from the movies regarding Harley’s base design. It was something familiar yet fresh for Harley Quinn that future comics and games like Fortnite would tribute.

It wouldn’t be the first time separate DC entities promoted each other through extra content. Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman: Arkham Origins featured skins based on each other’s looks. Batman: Arkham Knight featured Ben Affleck’s Batman before he even debuted in a movie.

With Warner Bros. Games Montréal starting their own franchise withGotham Knights, Rocksteady could throw them a bone since the Harley Quinn in that game has three different looks throughout her villain arc, and each one is well-designed enough to be costumes for if she were a playable character.

3 James Gunn Gave Harley A Drastically Different Look

Most Harley Quinn designs do something different but still follow the same jester-like silhouette. Whereas James Gunn experimented with a new look for Harley when she was given a red dress in The Suicide Squad that she herself said made her look like a princess.

Harley stole the movie in several sequences in this outfit, especially when she breaks out of prison. It’s one of several ways The Suicide Squad became a cult classic despite flopping. This Corto Maltesian princess skin would provide a bit more variety and appeal to fans who enjoyed James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

2 Rebirth Harley Is A Nice Mix Of All Eras

In a smart move, the Rebirth era of DC tried to appeal to all fans of Harley Quinn by giving her a design with elements of her past. It brought back the red and black color scheme of her origins, the pink and blue pigtails of Margot Robbie and other modern Harley designs, and bits of her New 52 suit.

This inspired Margot Robbie’s first costume in The Suicide Squad, and in the comics, she wears it as a member of the Bat Family. It is also the suit that DC used for their Justice League VS Suicide Squad event, making it very fitting for a game about the Squad taking the fight to the Justice League.

1 Can’t Go Wrong With Classic Harley

This was the only alternate costume for Harley Quinn in Batman: Arkham Knight, and it would be criminal not to bring it back. For some, the original design for Harley featured in Batman: The Animated Series and her first years in DC canon is still the best.

The red and black jester outfit made her unique from any other villain in the first place, even standing out from Joker in ways. Fans of Harley would likely anticipate seeing what the original Harley would look like in the art style for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
