A new piece of Thor: Love and Thunder fan art imagines Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher as a comic-accurate character.

Thor: Love & Thunder

A new piece of fan art for Thor: Love & Thunder imagines Gorr the God Butcher as he might have appeared in the comics if Marvel Studios had followed suit. Thor: Love & Thunder is the fourth instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4, and it reunites filmmaker Taika Waititi with Chris Hemsworth for the character’s fourth standalone film. The sequel will also feature the Guardians of the Galaxy, Jane Foster’s return as Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, and Christian Bale’s Gorr, in addition to Hemsworth.

The sequel will also feature the Guardians of the Galaxy, Jane Foster’s return as Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, and Christian Bale’s Gorr, in addition to Hemsworth.

The God Gorr Fans may be divided over Butcher’s new look, but bosslogic has given him a comic-accurate makeover. Gorr’s tentacles from the comics appear in the artist’s first piece, while the villain wears a cowl in the second. The following are both of bosslogic’s artworks:

While the original Thor: Love & Thunder trailer didn’t include Gorr, the most recent trailer finally did. Gorr will be completely redesigned for the film, but his story appears to be based on the comics. Gorr seeks vengeance on the gods and prays for their assistance when his family is murdered. “The only ones who gods care about is themselves,” Gorr says in the movie, implying that the character has similar motivations.

” The trailer also introduced All-Black the Necrosword, which was created by Knull, the God of Symbiotes, in the comics. Gorr’s strength is most likely derived from the sword in Thor: Love & Thunder, although it’s possible that Gorr’s final form is yet to be revealed if Marvel decides to play around with the Necrosword’s abilities.

Many have panned Gorr’s MCU look, but given Marvel’s plethora of CGI adversaries, some have found it refreshing. Bale is an Academy Award-winning actor, so his emotions will be able to show through without the need of prosthetics or CGI. Despite not being comic-accurate, Gorr’s design looks scary, and Bale’s acting will definitely make the villain’s threat genuine. It’s unclear whether Thor: Love & Thunder will be as successful as Thor: Ragnarok, but the sequel could show that MCU villains don’t have to be comic-accurate to be noteworthy.
