Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr., Selena’s father and longtime manager, has died at the age of 86. The news was confirmed by his son, Abraham “A.B.” Quintanilla III, who shared an emotional Instagram post on Saturday, December 13. “It’s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today,” A.B. wrote, alongside a photo of his father set to Pedro Infante’s ‘Cien Años.’ At this time, no cause of death has been publicly released.

Remembering Abraham Quintanilla’s Lasting Legacy
Abraham is survived by his wife Marcella Quintanilla and their children A.B. and Suzette. The family rose to fame through their late daughter Selena, who was tragically killed in March 1995 at just 23 years old by former fan club president Yolanda Saldívar. For years, Abraham managed Selena and her band Selena y Los Dinos, a family affair that included A.B. on bass, Suzette on drums, and Selena’s husband Chris Pérez on guitar. The family later partnered with Netflix on both ‘Selena: The Series’ and the documentary ‘Selena y Los Dinos: A Family’s Legacy,’ which premiered in November.
Before guiding Selena’s groundbreaking career, Abraham was a musician himself, performing in a band called Los Dinos. A.B. has shared that his father’s own experiences in the music industry allowed him to recognize Selena’s rare talent early on, saying Abraham saw something special others couldn’t. His influence not only shaped Selena’s rise, but also helped cement a legacy that continues to resonate across generations.
