Comedian and podcaster Adam Carolla predicted that Americans are about to find out the truth about California governor Gavin Newsom ahead of his likely run for president in 2028 ‘He’s a sociopathic buffoon. He’s dumb, but he’s also totally, weirdly, sort of disconnected. His ideas don’t connect,’ he said in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail on Tuesday. Carolla, who lives in California, revealed that he once hosted Newsom on his show in 2013 for a political conversation and found the then-lieutenant governor strangely disconnected.
Carolla Unleashes Blistering Critique of Newsom
‘I’m not speaking, you know, hyperbolically because I hate him and I think he’s ruining our state,’ Carolla said. ‘He is a sociopathic guy. When you talk to him, he doesn’t provide answers, he talks in circles, it’s all double talk.’ As a podcaster, Carolla said he interviews a lot of people and learned to appreciate someone who was thoughtful and spoke honestly. ‘You know, when you interview Gavin Newsom, you go, I have no idea who this guy is. Sociopath. I don’t think he knows who he is, he’s a chameleon. He’ll say anything in front of anyone at any time. All the time. His story will change all the time,’ he reflected.
Comedian Mocks Newsom’s Carefully Curated Image
Carolla spoke to the Daily Mail after performing at the Trump-Kennedy center last weekend and ahead of his appearances in Orlando on Thursday and Naples, Florida this weekend. Vogue Magazine was ridiculed online after contributing editor Maya Singer described the governor as ’embarrassingly handsome’ in a profile and ‘at ease with his own eminence.’ Carolla noted that Newsom liked to pretend he grew up in a poor household with his single mother, even as his father worked closely with the wealthy Getty family in San Francisco and managed their trusts. ‘He grew up a rich kid. He’s always been a rich kid. He’s a sociopathic jerk who’s semi-retarded and just makes bad policy that destroyed California,’ he said.
Newsom launched his own podcast after the 2024 election, interviewing Charlie Kirk, Steve Bannon, and other conservative personalities.He has also seized the opportunity to appear for interviews with other podcasters. Throughout his political career, Carolla noted, Newsom had relied on his good looks and chameleon abilities to succeed. ‘For some reason, dumb women or many women, not just the dumb ones, mistake whatever his look and his vibe is for being competent,’ he said. Currently Newsom leads many of the early polls of the 2028 presidential race on the Democratic side, as he has taken an increasingly combative tone with President Donald Trump.
Carolla predicted that once voters learned more about Newsom’s record in California they would quickly lose interest. ‘Once people start really delving into the corruption that is California, mix that with the wildfires, mix that with his atrocious record and, you know, sleeping around with his ex-campaign manager’s wife and all that kind of stuff, he’s not gonna go anywhere,’ he said. Newsom would face additional scrutiny, Carolla predicted, from his failed $24 billion project to reduce homelessness and his high-speed rail project that was billions of dollars over budget.
‘Only super leftist dumbos who live in California will buy into this because it’s an aesthetic that they’re buying into,’ he said. But Carolla admitted that Newsom would probably make it farther in the 2028 Democratic presidential primary than former Vice President Kamala Harris who lost to Trump in 2024. ‘I don’t think she’s a sociopath. like Gavin Newsom, but she doesn’t know anything. She has no policy, she flip-flops. Everything she says, she then walks back later on. She’s an idiot, and we got a nice sample of her mentality, which is really low, and I don’t think America wants that loser again,’ he said.
