IN FULL

The 22-year-old Afghan national arrested after a fatal triple stabbing in west London, England, that left one man dead and two others injured, including a 14-year-old boy, entered Britain illegally in the back of a truck, according to British authorities. The attack occurred on the evening of October 27 in Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge, prompting a rapid response from emergency services.

British Police confirmed that a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts from paramedics. A 45-year-old man sustained “life-changing” injuries, and a 14-year-old boy was also wounded. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Afghan, who was tasered by police near the scene, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He was later taken to hospital as a precaution before being placed in custody.

Detectives said investigations into the motive and circumstances of the attack are ongoing. The British Home Office, roughly equivalent to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said the Afghan had come to Britain illegally in the back of a semi-truck in 2020 but was granted asylum in 2022 despite his illegal entry. Trucks were a popular means of entering the United Kingdom for many years, although they have been largely replaced by small boats coming across the English Channel in recent years.

Police Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall called the stabbing spree “a shocking and senseless act of violence that has left one man dead and two others injured,” and reassured the local community that a strong police presence would remain in place. She also told residents not to share footage of the incident online or listen to speculation regarding the motive on social media. “We ask that you rely on us for information,” she pleaded.

The killing has reignited public concern following a series of high-profile stabbings across Britain and Continental Europe involving migrants or people from migrant backgrounds. In January 2025, an Afghan migrant reportedly murdered two people, including a toddler, in a stabbing spree in Germany. In May, knife attacks attributed to migrants left eight people injured, among them an 11-year-old girl.

More recently, British police named Syrian migrant Jihad al-Shamie as the suspect in a terror attack on a Manchester synagogue that involved both a car-ramming and stabbing. In another case, a migrant went on trial in October for allegedly killing a worker at a hotel hosting migrants, again by stabbing.
