Another casting shakeup has been revealed for the third season of And Just Like That… on Max.

A Sex and the City sequel series, And Just Like That… is reportedly set to start shooting its third season in May. Ahead of production, Deadline has revealed that Karen Pittman will not be returning as Nya Wallace in Season 3. Pittman had played Nya in the first two seasons of the show, turning Nya into a fan favorite. A Max spokesperson confirmed Pittman’s exit in a statement shared with the press.

Kim Cattrall and Samantha Jones have finally made a special appearance in the Season 2 finale of And Just Like That.

“It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That…,” the statement noted. “As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible. Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of Season 3 of And Just Like That… Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”

As noted by the statement, Pittman’s exit came down to scheduling difficulties. The Nya character was planned to be featured in Season 3, and she was included in the scripts. However, the planned production timetable made Pittman’s return impossible. She is already a series regular in the hit Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, dating back to before she’d joined And Just Like That… as Nya. Additionally, she recently boarded Forever, an upcoming Netflix series adapted from a Judy Blume story.

Another Cast Member Won’t Be Back in Season 3

Nya Wallace isn’t the first character confirmed to be absent in Season 3 — barring any surprise special appearances, which could still theoretically happen with both. In February, it was revealed that Sara Ramírez would not appear in Season 3 to reprise her role as Che Diaz. Like Nya, Che had appeared in the first two seasons of the Max series. This exit was seen as less surprising by fans, as Ramírez had seemingly criticized playing a “performative” character in the show, fueling speculation of an impending departure from the production.
