Adria Arjona looks on during a scene from Andor

Adria Arjona, who stars as Bix Caleen on Disney+’s Andor series, reveals what she does to avoid being recognized by Star Wars fans in public.

Adria Arjona, who appeared in both Disney+’s Andor and Sony Pictures’ Morbius, discussed how she disguises herself in public from Star Wars and Marvel fans.

“I did think about how this role could make me more recognisable,” Arjona said in an interview with Radio Times. “I did Morbius, a Marvel film, and realised while filming, ‘Oh man, this is going to change things,’ but with Star Wars you’re entering a completely different, massive fanbase. I’m excited to get to know the fans, but I’m less excited about being recognised all the time. I have naturally curly hair anyway, so I’ll just wear my hair curly if I don’t want to be recognised; no one will know it’s me. That’s my secret weapon!”

Arjona portrayed Martine Bancroft in 2022’s Morbius and has starred as the mechanic and friend of Cassian, Bix Caleen, on Andor since the series premiered on Disney+ in September 2022. It was reported in November that Arjona had signed on to appear in several future Star Wars projects, including the option for her own show, though this has not been officially confirmed.

Cassian Andor Returns on Disney+

Disney+’s Andor sees Diego Luna reprise his 2016 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story role as Rebel spy Cassian Andor. The series focuses on the backstory of Andor and is intended to flesh out the early days of the Rebel Alliance, serving as a prequel to Lucasfilm’s Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One. Andor will consist of two seasons, lasting 12 episodes each. Season 2 is already in production and is expected to cover the four-year gap between the first season and the events of Rogue One.

Before Andor‘s release on Disney+, showrunner Tony Gilroy teased the scale of the series and, in particular, how it will expand on Cassian’s past and its influence on his ultimate sacrifice in the 2016 film. “This guy gave his life for the galaxy, right? I mean, he consciously, soberly, without vanity or recognition, sacrificed himself. Who does that?” Gilroy said. “That’s what this first season is about. It’s about him being really revolution-averse and cynical, and lost, and kind of a mess.” Gilroy has estimated that it would take roughly two years for Season 2 to premiere, similar to the timeline of Season 1.

Luna has discussed the efforts made by the cast and crew to make Andor as grounded as possible in order for audiences to “forget that we’re in a galaxy far, far away.” According to the actor, it was important that every potential question in Andor had an answer. “Sometimes there’s a feeling when you’re doing science fiction that you can get away with things, you know?” he said. “That, who cares? The character happens to be here. In this process, that wasn’t the case. In this process, if you didn’t have an answer, you were not doing your job. And that applied [to] everyone on set. Not just the actors.”

Along with Luna and Arjona, Andor stars Forest Whitaker, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Robert Emms. Season 1 is available to stream on Disney+.
