Anti-ICE Antics, Police Pushback, and Panic in Politics

Welcome to the RedState Weekly Briefing — where we take a quick look at the week’s most viewed stories in case you missed any of them. What do you suppose caught people’s attention this week as we cap it off with Super Bowl Sunday? Grab a cup of coffee (or something stronger if you’re so inclined — especially if you’re taking off work tomorrow anyway), and sit down with this 21st Century Weekend Edition of your favorite (online) publication.

#1 – Anti-ICE Crew Is Not Happy at All About What Just Happened to Their ‘Checkpoint’ in Minneapolis — by Nick Arama

Can we laugh at how funny that is? The account says it’s in the Netherlands, but they have a VPN, so I suspect they are in Minneapolis, just using the VPN to shield themselves.

They said that it would take almost no effort to set up another “filter blockade,” and they need to build momentum to have more of them. It’s so dumb, and then the police can rip it down again. ICE can just take a detour around them. So all they’re doing is likely annoying people who have to go through the area, which will turn them off from the anti-ICE effort.

#2 – Head of Seattle Police Officers Guild Has the Perfect Response to Mayor’s Effort to Have Cops Track ICE — by Nick Arama

Sounds like the local law enforcement union thinks it is as well. Check out this perfect response to this from the president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild, Mike Solan.

“Toothless virtue signaling rhetoric like this has already cost two people their lives. The concept of pitting two armed law enforcement agencies against each other is ludicrous, and will not happen. I will not allow SPOG members to be used as political pawns.”

Thankfully, some in the police have sense and are willing to call out this nonsense. That’s the right answer.

The police also already have enough to do. It’s so wrong to put them in that position, and the mayor should be focused on helping them do the job they’re supposed to do.

#3 – Ilhan Omar Is Not Going to Be Happy About What James Comer Just Posted — by Nick Arama

Comer also mentioned in the first sentence that the committee is investigating the massive fraud that has gone on in Minnesota in the social services in the state.

According to reports, Omar and her husband had previously faced an investigation under the Biden administration, but they took no action, and the pair denies any wrongdoing.

So we’ll have to see what Omar’s husband supplies in response to the request. The next step from here for the committee, if they get no response, would be a potential subpoena.

We see they did hold the Clintons’ feet to the fire when it came to their testimony in the Epstein matter.

#4 – Pima County Sheriff Reveals Chilling New Theory on Disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s Mom — by Sister Toldjah

Later in the day, however, Nanos revealed an even more chilling detail, saying that he believed that Mrs. Guthrie was kidnapped while she was asleep in her bed:

The disappearance is very disturbing to the community, Nanos told MS NOW — formerly known as MSNBC — on Monday, saying investigators believe she was removed from her house against her will.

“You have an 84 year old lady who is home in bed, asleep in the middle of night (and) disappears,” Nanos said. “That’s not Tucson and that’s not who we are here.”

Nanos also indicated that he had sent homicide detectives to a scene he described as “concerning,” even though there was no body.

“It’s rare for me to call out our homicide team unless we have a body,” Nanos stated during an MS NOW interview.

#5 – The Knives Are Out for Tulsi Gabbard As She Closes in on 2020 Election Fraud — by streiff

The very fact that someone is pulling out all the stops to discredit the investigation into election integrity in 2020, and presumably since, is a sign that something very criminal and dangerous happened. It is also a sign that those behind that election, even if they aren’t trying to pull the same trick again in 2026 and beyond, are terrified of what would happen if their machinations came to light.

If our elections are corrupt, that calls into question every action of the government and breaks the bond between “We the People” and the Founders that was created in 1787. It is not difficult to believe that hostile foreign actors are involved, as well as our own self-hating elites. The fact that Gabbard was on the ground for the FBI, serving a search warrant, points to a significant intelligence problem alongside the raw criminality. The reaction indicates there is more of this to come.
