Gary Sweet let some skeletons out of his closet during Sunday’s episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia.
The Australian acting legend confessed to his campmates that he was raised believing his aunt and uncle were his biological parents.
The 68-year-old was fathered by his dad’s brother, who took Gary in as his own as a baby.
‘Would you like to hear something weird?’ he asked his campmates, before admitting he’d never publicly told the story of his unusual family dynamics before.
‘In my dad’s family, there were eight kids. The two closest were Bill and Phil,’ Gary continued.
‘Bill and his wife had four daughters. They were getting divorced, but she was pregnant.

‘The baby was me. So my biological parents became my uncle and auntie, and my sisters became my cousins.’
Gary admitted: ‘I’ve never, ever, ever told this story.’
The star was raised by his aunt and uncle in Adelaide, before leaving for Melbourne in 1980 to chase his acting dreams.
The House Husbands actor said that he rarely discussed the situation with his biological parents.
‘When I moved to Melbourne, I used to see my biological father quite a bit,’ he said.
‘It never really came up. Um, occasionally, if he was drunk, he’d say stuff (about it).’
Gary said that he ultimately saw the adoption as ‘a good thing to do’ for himself and his family, as his aunt was unable to have her own children.
‘It’s a good thing to grow up with people who really, really wanted you that badly,’ he said.
