Adams and Cuomo Put Mamdani to Shame Over Bench Press – Then ‘Big Balls’ Enters the Picture

But the best bench press on the day has to go to young Edward “Big Balls” Coristine. Coristine,  the former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee who was assaulted on August 3 when he came to the aid of his significant other as they faced a mob of teens in D.C. He was left covered in blood.

In the end, nothing will come of this, but I’d really like to know what the endgame is supposed to be here.

Do Democrats Love Crime, or Just Hate Trump?

When somebody prefers having their car stolen and their arm broken to having Donald Trump help them, it’s pretty clear that there is a mental illness at work.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

We’ve got one more week with the critters at large, though, as anticipated, some of them have continued to provide ample ground for ridicule. We’ve got Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) continuing to howl about the allegations of mortgage fraud levied against him (despite the receipts).

Meanwhile, it seems some GOPers in the Senate may not be as keen on reining in spending as one would hope.

White House What’s Up

President Donald Trump is set to sign executive orders on Monday morning. After that, he’ll greet the president of South Korea and participate in a bilateral meeting and lunch with him.

Vice President JD Vance sat for a “Meet the Press” interview that aired on Sunday, in which he schooled host Kristen Welker on redistricting and illegal aliens.

Full Court Press…

The courts were busy this past week — as my CourtListener mailbox folder with (checks email) 367 untouched alerts in it can attest. I know my RedState colleagues remained on top of things and brought you news of some of the more notable decisions in my absence.

MORNING MUSING

I know y’all don’t come to RedState (or even the Morning Minute) for a travelogue, but since I’ve been largely offline and out of the loop news-wise for the past six days, I hope you’ll indulge me in this instance. I did the thing you’re supposed to do while vacationing and actually did unplug. Oh, I still got news alerts, so, yes, I was aware of the big decision in the Trump civil fraud case and the raid on Bolton’s home and office. But I mostly took the time to focus on relaxing and enjoying a lovely drive to Colorado (and back) with the handsome beau.

I do want to mention a couple of the highlights as a recommendation for those contemplating their next vacation/adventure:

Our first night, we stayed in Kansas City, Missouri, and spent several hours that afternoon exploring the fantastic National World War I Museum and Memorial there. Cannot recommend it enough — very informative and very well designed for anyone with even a passing interest in history.

Thursday-Friday, we spent at Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado Springs. They refer to this as a “hidden gem,” and it is exactly that. The castle itself has a fascinating story — General William Jackson Palmer, the founder of Colorado Springs, had a grand vision and an engineer’s approach to design. It’s a hotel now, so yes, you can book a room in the castle proper or elsewhere on the grounds. It’s peaceful, and there are some great hiking trails to enjoy as well. (Image below was taken from one of them — it was moderately challenging, but worth it!)

Mostly, though, I want to recommend the practice of actually vacationing — even if you don’t go anywhere fun or fancy. Taking the time to “touch grass,” as the kids say, is so worth it. We all spend too much time online and engrossed in the news — it’s fascinating and, obviously, we’re passionate about what’s going on in our world. But everyone needs a refresh every once in a while, even yours truly.

Now…time for me to get back in the saddle.
