Bad News for Chuck Schumer: Check Out His Campaign Donations

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) voted to keep the government open in March.

So what’s stopping him from doing the same thing in October? Why is he holding out so much now? The shutdown is in its 25th day.

Part of the reason is that Schumer was ripped by the left for going along with Republicans in March. Then, there’s also that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) may go after his seat, and he’s concerned about holding onto whatever leftist support he has.

In the meantime, the embrace of the left may be hurting him with people in the center. And it looks like he may have good cause to worry about his position, if his campaign donations are any indication.

He’s only raised a fraction of his typical donation haul over the past few months before Sept. 30. This was a great title from the New York Post.

Federal Election Commission filings show the five-term senator’s receipts slowed to a relative trickle for the last three months — raising questions about the 74-year-old’s future in a party in the throes of a far left youth movement.

The Brooklyn Democrat brought in just $133,000 during the three months ending Sept. 30 – while facing a potential primary challenge from “Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Bronx and Queens), 36, who raised $4.5 million during the last quarter for her House reelection campaign. […]

Schumer’s haul was less than half of the $337,000 he brought in during the equivalent period of his 2022 election — his October 2019 report. Senators serve six-year terms and typically ramp up fundraising as their race nears.

He actually spent more on his political operation than he raised from July through September, shelling out $322,000, his latest campaign filing reveals.

Schumer has brought in a lot in the past as his election dates draw closer. He pulled in $5.9 million in October before his election in 2022. But right now, in Oct. 2025, he only has $8.6 million in the bank — which is less than the $11.8 million that AOC has for her 2026 reelection race.

Even ‘Fact-Checkers’ Are Calling Out Schumer for Misleading Comments on White House Renovations

This might explain his desperation. As we reported, he’s even misleading the American people about the White House renovations. But the problem for him is that nothing he does now to act like he’s “fighting” President Donald Trump and the Republicans to appeal to the left is going to make them vote for him over someone like Ocasio-Cortez. They’re still going to pick her over him if that’s the choice. So, it’s a stupid exercise on his part.

Meanwhile, he’s holding the whole government over the barrel with his shutdown. He even voted against paying our military and essential workers on Thursday. Democrats have fed the leftist monster, and now their “leaders” like Schumer may get eaten by it.

It couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
