Better Call Saul Season 6 Video Highlights Long Wait for Next Episode

AMC releases a Better Call Saul season 6 video highlighting the long wait for the next episode of the beloved Breaking Bad prequel series.

AMC releases a Better Call Saul season 6 video highlighting the long six-week wait for part 2. After an extended hiatus due to COVID-19-related delays and lead star Bob Odenkirk’s on-set heart attack, Better Call Saul finally returned on April 18. The majority of the sixth and final season has followed two disparate storylines – Gus Fring cleans up after his failed assassination attempt against Lalo Salamanca and patiently awaits his return to Albuquerque, while Jimmy McGill and Kim Wexler enact their plan to ruin Howard Hamlin’s career.

Over the course of the first six episodes, these storylines remained separate before converging during the mid-season finale. Jimmy and Kim’s master plan to frame Howard as a hysterical drug addict comes to a head in episode 7 at the Sandpiper mediation hearing. After their plan works perfectly, Howard visits Jimmy and Kim at their apartment to confront the couple about their devious actions but is completely unprepared for who shows up next – Lalo. The Better Call Saul midseason finale ends on a shocking cliffhanger that left viewers immediately wanting to see what happens next, but alas, a weeks-long wait is ahead.

Now, Better Call Saul is acknowledging the long wait in a creative way. The official AMC YouTube channel uploaded a video compilation of characters from the show saying the words “Six weeks,” cheekily referring to the fact that Better Call Saul season 6 returns in that amount of time. Mesa Verde CEO Kevin Wachtell moaning “We can’t wait six weeks” perfectly encapsulates the collective sentiment of die-hard Better Call Saul viewers who can’t stomach the long mid-season break. This is the first time a season of Better Call Saul has been split up into two parts, though Breaking Bad‘s final season 5 did the same, with its mid-season finale ending on the momentous development in which Hank discovers Walt is Heisenberg.

The six-week wait is especially grueling given what viewers know is in store for the second half of Better Call Saul season 6. The fates of major characters like Kim and Lalo are still up in the air. Similarly, Gene Takovic’s fate hangs in the balance in the post-Breaking Bad timeline, which has yet to be seen in season 6 other than episode 1’s cold-open which did not feature everyone’s favorite Cinnabon manager. Breaking Bad‘s Walt and Jesse also have yet to appear in Better Call Saul, cameos which were surprisingly confirmed before season 6 premiered. Hopefully, the wait pays off when Better Call Saul season 6 returns on July 11.
