Real Time host Bill Maher (above) dedicated his opening monologue to Queen Elizabeth's death, mocking the British Royal family as he called it a 'Sad day for inbreeding'

Real Time host Bill Maher took a jab at Meghan Markle as he joked that her Archetypes podcast was the cause of Queen Elizabeth’s death.

Dedicating his opening monologue to the Queen on Friday night, Maher immediately took a dig at the British Royal Family.

‘You all know the big story. Sad day for inbreeding,’ Maher said as he sarcastically bowed his head.

‘Queen Elizabeth died at 96, they say the cause of death was Meghan Markle’s podcast,’ he added, taking a jab at the Duchess of Sussex’s Archetypes, which fell off Spotify’s No. 1 spot this week after accusations that its position was inflated.

Maher added that while his British friends and guests condemned jokes about the queen, he predicted that her death meant the end of the United Kingdom’s reverence towards the Royal Family.

Despite his jabs at Markle and the Royal Family, Maher insisted that he liked and respected the monarch, before taking aim at America’s leaders next.

‘The White House is saying for a long time they didn’t know if Biden was gonna go to the funeral. Finally said just a few hours ago he is. I was not in doubt,’ Maher said. ‘Biden? Funeral? It’s like when the dog hears your keys.’

‘Biden sent his condolences to the people of England and said ‘if we can do anything, we’re here to be your friend.’ And Trump also sent condolences and said he could bury her in his golf course if they want.’

The late night host also quipped that Elton John would be writing a new song for the queen called ‘Mustard in the Fridge,’ a parody of ‘Candle in the Wind,’ which was originally written about Marily Monroe and altered as a tribute to Princess Diana.

‘Well, he’s noting the fact that Diana was 36 and the Queen is almost 100, mustard in the fridge. Seems to me you lived your life like mustard in the fridge,’ Maher said while laughing.

At the end of the monologue, Maher said that like others, he, too, tried to offer his condolences to the Royal Family.

‘We’re all upset. I called Buckingham Palace to give my condolences, they said: ‘New Queen, who dis?”

Later in the show, Maher returned to the topic and told guests Matt Welch, editor of Reason Magazine, and NYU Professor Scott Galloway that American quips about the queen are vastly condemned by the British.

Maher said: ‘I made lots of jokes about the Queen… To British people, it’s not funny. It’s like, ‘Nope, don’t call her the old bag.’ Whatever it’s like, ‘No!.’

‘They really, even the ones who came to America, British people, they have a thing.

Welch agreed with Maher, noting that even former-Sex Pistol singer John Lydon, known as Johnny Rotten who sang the punk band’s anti-monarchist hit ‘God Save the Queen’, tweeted his condolences for the loss.

‘That’s what I’m saying, it’s in their blood,’ Maher reacted.

‘My question is, is it just for this lady,’ he asked.

‘I think it died with her. I think that reverence, I think she was the last one.

‘And now, the monarchy, I’m not gonna say it’s going away, but I think that, “No don’t say anything about her,” I think that’s gonna go,’ Maher added.
