The Bills will be spending their Christmas Eve in Chicago due to extreme blizzard conditions back home in Buffalo, with the city’s airport closed until 11am Monday.

A daily record snowfall of 22.3 inches descended on the city Friday, according to the National Weather Service, while two people have already died in the storm.

Additionally, the area has been left with near-zero visibility in the snowstorm that New York’s Governor Kathy Hochul called ‘one of the worst in history.’

And while the Bills earned an impressive 35-13 road win on Saturday to clinch the AFC East, it looks like they’ll have to celebrate Christmas Eve on the road.

According to NFL Network’s Stacey Dales, the team will hope to fly into a neighboring airport tomorrow morning and bus home.

When the team does return home, they won’t want to go outside.

Winds as high as 70 miles per hour went through the area on Friday night, and according to the Buffalo News, 47,000 people in the Buffalo and Niagara area are without power.

This isn’t the first time even this season that Bills players have had travel plans disrupted by weather.

The Bills nearly couldn’t make it to their game vs. the Browns in November – a matchup that had already been moved to Detroit because of snowy weather conditions.

The Bills are scheduled to fly to Cincinnati next week for a primetime matchup vs. the Bengals.
