10 Crossover
Donny Cates & Geoff Shaw
Donny Cates’ Crossover series pulled together characters from across comic book publishers, such as Image, Dark Horse and Boom! Studios. The story followed a world where the fantastical characters of comics like Spawn and the Black Hammer came to life and entered the real world.
Crossover didn’t make much time for deep looks at how these individual heroes would interact with reality, but it did deliver on some nice fan service. One such character to enter the saga was Mark Waid’s Max Damage of Irredeemable, who wreaked havoc throughout the series.
9 Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy
Chynna Clugston-Flores & Rosemary Valero-O’Connell
Lumberjanes was created to be a series that followed a group of girls at summer camp, where they encountered a series of supernatural occurrences and creatures. In 2016, the girls met up with their DC Gotham Academy counterparts, where some of their friends went missing, with the main group hot on the case.
Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy was evocative of classic Scooby-Doo-style mysteries combined with a heavy dose of YA-style entertainment. Perfectly aimed at younger readers, the miniseries delivers on a fun mystery while also honoring its genre, with plenty of light-hearted takes on superhero mystery.
8 Star Trek/Planet Of The Apes
Scott Tripton, David Tripton & Rachael Stott
With a mission to explore bold new worlds, the original crew of Star Trek’s Enterprise were shocked to find themselves on a new, changed version of Earth — one ruled by apes. Star Trek/Planet of the Apes followed the Enterprise crew as they fought both Klingons and their new ape allies, while defending Ape City from a civil war. Torn between their Prime Directive and defeating the Klingons, Kirk and his friends were pulled into the war, and desperately fought to stop an assassination.
7 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Ryan Parrott, Simone Di Meo & Dan Mora
As one of Boom! Studios’ most successful properties, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were naturally the first choice for some of the company’s biggest crossovers. The best of these was revisiting their classic TV crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a shared adventure.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles followed the Rangers as they pursued Tommy Oliver, but their search brought them against the Foot Clan. After regrouping, the Rangers met with and teamed up with the Turtles, taking the fight to their enemies to save the world.
6 Godzilla Vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Cullen Bunn & Freddie Williams II
Considering the number of Kaiju-level threats the Power Rangers have faced, a character like Godzilla made for a natural enemy to fight. The story followed Rita Repulsa as she traveled to an alternate universe where the Rangers didn’t exist — landing her in a world of Godzilla and other monsters.

The series upped the ante on prior entries with the Turtles forming an unlikely alliance with Shredder to save their world from the Rangers’ villains.
4 Tarzan On The Planet Of The Apes
Tim Seeley & David Walker
A collaboration with Dark Horse, Tarzan On the Planet of the Apes brought Edgar Rice Burroughs’ iconic jungle hero into the dystopian sci-fi future of apekind. The series reimagined the histories of both worlds, with it being revealed that Tarzan and Caesar were raised as brothers and later separated by slavers.
Tarzan On the Planet of the Apes merged the pulpy adventurism of Burroughs’ creation with the sci-fi of Ape City, even borrowing from Jules Verne when the heroes ventured to the center of the Earth. Banding together to save both humans and apes from their hatred, the series featured Caesar and Tarzan in a fantastical adventure.
3 Kong On The Planet Of The Apes
Ryan Ferrier, Carlos Magno & Mike Huddleston
King Kong’s story is one of the most famous in fictional history, with an expedition of adventurers finding him on Skull Island and taking him back to Manhattan. Under Boom! Studios, this story was replicated on the Planet of the Apes, where an ape expedition found Kong and brought him back to put him on display.
Kong On the Planet of the Apes was a great adventure comic, especially as it followed the apes on their daring odyssey away from their land to Skull Island. Replete with evil ape generals, encounters with terrifying dinosaurs and a lost tribe of humans, the series is a great merging of both worlds.
2 Big Trouble In Little China/Escape From New York
Greg Pak & Daniel Bayliss
Big Trouble In Little China and Escape From New York are two of John Carpenter’s greatest films, and each helped propel Kurt Russell into stardom. Under Boom! Studios, Russell’s two signature action heroes formed an unlikely team-up when Jack Burton rode his Pork Chop Express into the dystopia of Snake Plissken’s New York.
Big Trouble In Little China/Escape From New York followed Jack and Snake as they entered into uneasy alliances with some of their enemies in a bid to save the world. Both characters manage to shine through in this action-packed crossover that perfectly balances the iconic director’s signature movies.
1 Planet Of The Apes/Green Lantern
Robbie Thompson & Barnaby Bagenda
Planet of the Apes and Green Lantern sounds like an unlikely crossover, but it made for one of Boom! Studios’ greatest stories. Their crossover miniseries followed the arrival of multiple Lantern Corps to the world of the Planet of the Apes after Cornelius acquired the Universal Ring.
Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern followed the all out battle for control of the Universal Ring, an artifact that allows its wearer to channel the different powers of the light spectrum. Interestingly, this story added weight to both the GLC and Planet of the Apes lore.
