On November 14, TikTok influencer Maurice Harrison, also known as Girlalala, was gunned down in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Now, police have reportedly arrested Harrison’s boyfriend, Shanoyd Whyte Jr. Additionally, he’s reportedly been charged with first-degree murder with a firearm. Loved ones have come forward speaking out about alleged abuse, violence against transgender Black women, and familial disputes over how to honor Girlalala’s identity.

According to Carter, police received a 911 call on November 14 from Whyte Jr., who was pleading for help. Moments before, police believe, Whyte Jr. shot Girlalala, and a nearby Tesla caught the whole ordeal on camera. Per Carter, Whyte Jr. reportedly told police that he and Girlalala got into an argument over a gun. However, Tesla footage showed Whyte Jr. running to his passenger door as Girlalala slumped over limp.
Now, fans are looking back at footage of the pair, pointing out the apparent signs of abuse. Per Carter, one video of the TikToker showed her with a bite mark on her arm, another showed her hiding out while apparently calling Whyte Jr. “cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.”

According to Carter, Shanoyd Whyte Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder with a firearm. Now, her family is reportedly in a dispute over how to bury Girlalala.
“Y’all want to put the man in a wig… I don’t know him as that [Girlalala]. I ain’t taking that from his followers, from his crowd, y’all can have that,” Girlalala’s dad reportedly said in footage shared online. “The funeral’s Saturday, put my son in Pop Smoke braids with a sharp tape or a afro for the last time. I ain’t attending no funeral with my son that God done gave to me as a boy in no wig!”
