Influencer Yasmim Ângela Feitosa de Souza has died at the age of 26, just two days after celebrating her birthday with friends.
Her mother confirmed that the creator, who had more than 23,000 Instagram followers, became gravely ill on November 12 and died later that day at home in Petrolina, Brazil.
While speaking in Portuguese to Brazilian news outlet g1, her mother explained that the illness came on rapidly after Yasmim consumed alcohol with two friends during a gathering on the night of November 10.
‘They drank on Monday night, and then yesterday my daughter’s boyfriend woke up feeling unwell,’ her mother said.
She continued: ‘My daughter, however, was happy all day, playing with everyone, she went to the market with me, we did our grocery shopping, we had lunch out. And it was at night that she started feeling unwell.’
Ultimately, she said she ‘couldn’t save’ her daughter.

The University Hospital of Univasf told g1 that a patient matching the circumstances arrived on November 12 with a report of methanol poisoning, part of what they described as a recent pattern of similar cases in the region.
Authorities are currently analyzing the bottle of whisky the influencer and her friends consumed, which her mother estimated to be about one and a half liters in total.
Methanol is a colorless liquid that has a smell and appearance very similar to ethanol, making it difficult to differentiate.
Poisoning occurs ‘accidentally when people are attempting home-brewing, or by deliberate addition to keep production costs low,’ according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Ingesting even small amounts can be fatal for an adult.
The symptoms of methanol poisoning include drowsiness, confusion and uncoordinated movement.
In November 2024, six people died from suspected methanol poisoning at a bar in Vang Vieng, Laos after drinking tainted alcoholic beverages.

Earlier this month, she shared photos of herself on the back of a motorcycle, which her boyfriend was driving.
Other images from the slideshow showed them sharing a kiss and forming a heart with their hands in a sweet mirror selfie.
Although she only has 75 posts, the influencer frequently shared glimpses of her life from beach trips and getting her nails done to getaways and outfit photos.
According to g1, Yasmim de Souza will be laid to rest on Thursday, November 13, at a cemetery near her home.

Fans were quick to react to the devastating news online as many described her death as ‘shocking’ and ‘heartbreaking.’
