A bride-to-be was left ‘speechless’ by her bridesmaid’s request to wear a white gown to her wedding next year.

Chloe Cotterell, from the UK, revealed on TikTok that one of her 10 bridesmaids asked to try on a white dress during a special shopping trip she had organised ahead of her big day.

In a clip which has been viewed 647,000 times, the self-described beauty influencer explained that she offered all the bridesmaids a colour palette of ‘six shades of pink’ to choose from – but one ‘thought it would be really cool if she could be the one in a white dress compared to the other bridesmaids.’

Describing the situation as ‘strange’, Chloe asked her 256,400 followers how she should handle it, with one TikToker boldly claiming that she should ‘uninvite’ the bridesmaid in question.

Telling viewers that she had 10 bridesmaids, Chloe explained: ‘I’m treating every single one of them to the dress that they want – no budget limit, nothing.’

‘The only thing the girls had to adhere to was the colour scheme,’ she continued. ‘Within this colour scheme, there were literally six shades of pink they could choose. They had options.’

Chloe also provided some background information on the bridesmaid, who she referred to as ‘Natalie’, adding that the pair had been friends since the age of three.

‘We have known each other such a long time, she knows exactly what I do and don’t want with this wedding,’ the content creator said. ‘I really didn’t think she would be the one I’d complain about.’

When the 11 young women went to the bridal dress shop that Chloe had rented out for ‘hundreds of pounds’, she saw Natalie talk to the dress assistant in private but had no idea what was said.

Chloe continued: ‘The dress assistant then came to me, pulled me to the side and told me what Natalie said.

‘And this woman literally asked if she could try on a white gown.’

For context, Chloe added that Natalie ‘is not engaged,’ so it wasn’t the case that she wanted to ‘try [it] on to get a vibe’ for her own wedding dress.

‘She’s painfully single and enjoys it,’ Chloe said. ‘And if it’s a joke, I don’t find it funny.’

The bride-to-be felt like she had no choice but to challenge Natalie and asked her directly: ‘Why are you asking to try on a white bridesmaid dress?’

Yet, rather than withdrawing her request or apologising to her old friend, Natalie doubled down on it, adding that she wanted to stand out from the other bridesmaids in a white dress.

Recalling that she was left ‘speechless’ by Natalie’s comment, Chloe added: ‘It just doesn’t make sense because she’s not the maid of honour, she’s not a head bridesmaid.’

Turning to her followers for ideas on how to handle the situation, Chloe emphasised that she doesn’t want Natalie to ‘turn up in a white dress.’

Chloe’s post amassed well over 100 comments, with many insisting that Natalie should be struck off the guest list altogether.

One TikToker wrote: ‘Tell her “No!”, and if she doesn’t budge uninvite her to your wedding.’

Another agreed: ‘Not invited to the wedding.’

A third person insisted that Natalie should be removed from the bridal party, writing: ‘She’s a hater and shouldn’t be a bridesmaid anymore’.

Commenting in a similar vein, another person said: ‘So you’ve nine bridesmaids now?’

A fifth said: ‘She either wears pink or you have nine bridesmaids’.

While a sixth TikTok user argued: ‘Should have told her if she wants to look like a bride, maybe she should fund her own wedding’.
