Britney Spears alluded mysteriously to the ‘interesting year’ she has lived through, in a since-deleted Instagram post this Thursday.
The 44-year-old was arrested in March on suspicion of driving under the influence and subsequently checked into a substance abuse rehab for three weeks.
Earlier this month, she took a form of plea bargain known as a ‘wet reckless,’ a colloquialism for a DUI charge reduced to reckless driving.
She was sentenced to 12 months’ probation, plus a $571 fine and mandatory attendance at 30 hours of DUI classes spread across a three-month program.
In her new Instagram post, she sidestepped her legal issues in favor of a freewheeling account of her ‘arts and crafts’ experiments with stained glass.
Spears – who has had rollercoaster relationships with her parents Jamie and Lynn, her sister Jamie Lynn and her sons Jayden and Preston – did touch on the ’emotional issues’ she suffers in the kitchen, which she noted was ‘usually where we as family all come together to celebrate, pray and cook….’

Her post came a week after the emergence of humiliating dashcam footage from her March 4 DUI arrest, in which she was seen failing her sobriety test and being cuffed
‘This year has been quite interesting… I’ve never done so many arts and crafts and it’s sort of embarrassing ok so I might have went a bit coo coo in the nest when I honestly believed I could create my own stained glass …,’ she wrote.
She arranged ‘bits and pieces of broken glass’ on ‘white sheets,’ but ‘unfortunately’ for whatever reason was unable to use the ‘glass blowing machine’ she owns.
‘I have a lot of emotional issues that come up in my kitchen…’ confessed Spears, who lost custody of her sons in the wake of her 2008 breakdown, after which they were primarily raised by their father Kevin Federline.
‘I have no idea why… I guess that’s usually where we as family all come together to celebrate, pray and cook and well for some reason I did my crafts there….,’ she wrote on Instagram.
Spears began painting through the night, and when she completed a stained glass lamp she switched it on to observe the results of her handiwork.
The experience evidently made a forceful impression as ‘to my surprise it was by no means perfect but my heart and whole body became one with it and I melted with the soft pink and purple glow before me as if I fell in love,’ she wrote.
‘Ok I get its a f***king broken lamp with shattered glass pieces put together somehow to create light… but I found myself wanting to go to the kitchen after years of not wanting to…l was excited to go to the kitchen in the middle of the night to eat my cereal or snacks … something very demure to me and one of a kind,’ she added.
Her handmade lamp gave her ‘the most peaceful feeling’ and remained ‘in my kitchen for 3 months… I never moved it from when I first made it.’
Spears then accused her housekeeper of having ‘accidentally’ thrown the lamp out ‘as if it was a napkin,’ sighing that she was ‘used to people taking my things’ now.

‘I didn’t even fight or ask where it was I just knew and learned about humanity and decided last night I choose animals over people,’ she added.
‘I am actually AWAKENED to KNOW that something like SLEEPING in bed with a LION…something that holy and royal instead sleeping with a person has honestly given me the highest consciousness I’ve ever felt in my life.’

Spears was allegedly seen around 9pm on March 4 driving erratically on the US-101 freeway near Newbury Park, California, resulting in a pursuit by the police.
She was arrested on ‘suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs,’ according to the California Highway Patrol.
A police report obtained by the Daily Mail claimed that Spears confessed to having taken Adderall, Prozac and the mood stabilizer Lamictal.
She also told the authorities she had drunk ‘one champagne mimosa’ seven hours earlier, according to the report from the arresting officer.
‘I detected the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath and person,’ alleged the officer. ‘Her speech was rapid and slurred, her gait was unsteady, and she was fidgeting with her fingers.’
Spears has had fraught relationships with many family members, including her mother Lynn, whom she is pictured with in 1999 in Santa Monica
Spears has also had a checkered relationship with her father Jamie Spears, pictured in 2009, who controversially obtained a conservatorship of her after her 2008 breakdown
According to the report, law enforcement discovered an unprescribed Adderall bottle in her purse and an empty wineglass in a front cupholder.
Over the course of her conversation with the highway patrolmen, her ‘mood changed from confrontational and agitated to flamboyant and compliant’ and she occasionally spoke ‘nonsensically,’ the arresting officer alleged.
She supposedly ‘appeared to speak with a British accent at times’ and invited officers to her home, offering to make them lasagna and saying: ‘I have a pool.’
Between the arrest in early March and the plea deal she accepted in May, Spears spent three weeks attending a substance abuse rehab.
Days after she emerged from the treatment facility, eyewitnesses claimed to have seen Spears looking agitated, barking and carrying a knife at the Blue Dog Tavern in the Los Angeles suburb of Sherman Oaks.
‘This is completely blown out of proportion,’ her representative told the Daily Mail. ‘She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors.’
The representative maintained that Spears ‘was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard,’ adding that the Toxic singer never put ‘anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half.’
In her bestselling 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears accused her younger sister Jamie Lynn – with whom she is pictured in 2003 – of having been a ‘total b****’ at the age of 11
Her legal woes come less than five years after she was unleashed from her 13-year conservatorship, which began when her father was placed in control of her life.
Jamie first obtained his hotly controversial conservator status over his daughter in the wake of her breakdown in 2007 and 2008.
During that period, she hit the headlines for shaving her head completely bald and whaling on a paparazzo’s car with an umbrella.
The situation came to a head when the authorities and paramedics arrived at Spears’ house one day in January 2008 because she was defying a court order to turn over her young sons to their father Kevin Federline.
A standoff reportedly took place in which Spears was alleged to have barricaded herself in a bathroom with one or both of her children.
The following month her father succeeded in obtaining an emergency temporary conservatorship that was made permanent later in the year.
Eventually, against the backdrop of a vociferous ‘Free Britney’ fan movement, Spears mounted a legal battle to end the conservatorship and triumphed in 2021.
In May 2024 she was seen being accompanied out of Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont by medics, igniting concerns she was suffering a ‘mental health crisis.’

Spears issued a statement hours later, posting Instagram videos of her swollen and ‘twisted’ right ankle and appearing on the verge of tears.
Claims had been swirling that she hurt her ankle during an altercation with her on-off ex Paul Richard Soliz, a felon who was once convicted of second degree robbery.
However she maintained she simply fell while attempting to ‘do a leap’ at her hotel room, which the paramedics ‘illegally’ entered, creating an ‘unnecessary’ ‘scene.’
She also claimed: ‘I know my mom was involved !!! I haven’t talked to her in 6 months and she called right after it happened before the news being out !!!’
Spears – who has accused her mother Lynn of being the true architect of the conservatorship – shared a bombshell post this February claiming to be ‘scared’ of her family and declaring herself ‘lucky to be alive.’
