There’s a new era of electric boat racing going off in Venice, Italy.

Model and actress Cara Delevingne hit the waters of the city’s famous canals to help preview the new RaceBird, which is the world’s first all-electric raceboat.

And it’s all apart of the launch of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) E1 World Championship Powerboat Series that was created specifically for electric boats.

A veteran of fashion campaigns and runways all across the globe, Delevingne struck a number of her famous poses on top of one of the RaceBirds.

The London, England native, 29, exuded a healthy dose of attitude and confidence decked out in a black, blue and yellow race suit, otherwise known as racing overalls.

The full-body suit hugged her fit figure as she stood over the cockpit of one of the single pilot raceboats while holding a helmet with her right hand.

The ensemble also included a pair of matching shoes that are standard for the so-called pilots of the vessels.

She rounded out her sporty look by having her dirty blonde tresses styled long, slightly teased for added volume, and a part on the slight right.

As she worked her magic for the adoring cameras, people began to gather on the dock, which was only a couple of hundred of feet away.

At one point, the Suicide Squad star got into the pilot’s cockpit and sat behind the wheel of the new raceboat.

The E1 World Electric Powerboat Series is a championship racing series created specifically for electric boats by Alejandro Agag, the founder of Formula E and Extreme E championship series, and Rodi Basso, a former Director of Motorsport at McLaren with a background in Formula 1, according to Electrek.

E1 is the first electric raceboat championship sanctioned by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the world governing body of powerboating.

During the competition, pilots cruise just above the water’s surface with the use of innovative hydrofoil technology, according to E1series.com.

The RaceBird vessel is the brainchild of Norwegian designer Sophi Horne and was brought to life together with naval architect and marine engineer Brunello Acampora and expert engineers from Victory Marine and SeaBird Technologies.

Last September, the public got its first look of the full-size RaceBird, which can handle tight and technical circuits on the water, reaching speeds near 50 knots (93 km/h), which translates to about 58 mph.

The Inceptive Mind is reporting that the 100% electric RaceBird is powered by a 150 kW Kreisel battery and an outboard motor produced by Mercury Racing.
