Colion Noir Shows Us Why Training With Your Firearm Is Essential – RedState

I came across a very enlightening video featuring gun rights advocate and lawyer Colion Noir. With the ongoing debate over guns and the right to bear arms, it is essential that those who exercise their Second Amendment rights understand the legalities associated with carrying a concealed firearm.

When I became a first-time gun owner last September, I sought out as much advice on the matter as I could. I was immediately struck by the number of people who told me how many buy guns and rarely train with them. It was also concerning to me that many don’t understand that even in cases in which self-defense seems obvious, one can still face prison time if they are not careful. We all got a glimpse of this reality in the case of Jose Alba, a bodega worker who might face second-degree murder charges in New York after stabbing to death a man who was caught on video viciously assaulting him in his place of business.

Noir’s video, which was filmed by the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA), puts him in two deadly-force scenarios, in which he could face danger, to see how his reaction could have legal ramifications.

USCCA Director of Content Kevin Michalowski was joined by criminal defense attorney Tom Grieve to discuss the two scenarios Noir was placed in. You might be surprised to hear the input the two men gave after Noir played out both scenarios. In the first scenario, there was a decent chance Noir could have faced prosecution, even though most sane people could see he was obviously acting to defend himself and others.

What stood out to me is the quickness with which situations such as these could escalate. It also struck me how Noir – who shoots for a living – could not remember how many rounds he fired despite being an expert in gunplay. It demonstrates that even the best of us might not always react perfectly when placed in a deadly-force situation.

It was a very informative – and sobering – exercise that everyone who carries concealed should watch. It also illustrates the importance of investing in concealed carry insurance. Even in clear cases of self-defense, victims will likely require the services of an attorney, which can get quite expensive. USCCA is one of many organizations that provide this service, which can protect people from life-altering consequences if they are forced to use their firearm to defend themselves or loved ones.

With the anti-gunner lobby taking a major hit because of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Bruen, we can expect to see more far-leftist prosecutors like New York City’s Alvin Bragg seeking to punish those who use weapons to protect themselves. To them, it is not about justice, it is about pushing an agenda. Anyone who carries a firearm would do well to take this reality to heart.
