A country mansion in Jersey could be about to smash the property price record after being listed for almost £40million – almost £15million more than it was sold for five years ago.

Maison de la Valette sold for about £25 million in September 2016 but has been put back on the market for an asking price of £39.95million.

If the price is met, it would eclipse the current record sale of £31million for a property on the Channel Island of Jersey set earlier this year.

His firm has already exceeded its target of attracting 15 super-rich immigrants to Jersey every year.
