Dallas ICE shooter Joshua Jahn was unemployed coder who was on verge of moving back in with parents: Live updates

The Dallas ICE shooter, who was confirmed exclusively by the Daily Mail as Joshua Jahn, was unemployed at the time of the shooting and was planning to move into his parent’s property in Oklahoma, his brother confirmed.

The siblings were raised in Allen, Texas, Noah Jahn told NBC News. He claimed that his brother ‘didn’t have strong feelings about ICE’ and never thought he would’ve been involved in a politically motivated shooting.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, but an initial review of the evidence shows an ‘ideological motive behind this attack.’ A bullet casing recovered at the scene was engraved with the phrase ‘anti-ICE.’

On Wednesday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz condemned the attack, stressing that ‘politically motivated violence is wrong’ and adding, ‘political opponents are not Nazis. We need to work together without demonizing and attacking each other.’

At least four people were injured and two shot dead at the Texas ICE facility around 6.40am before a suspected sniper was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on a nearby rooftop.

Pro-immigration demonstrators have frequently targeted the Dallas ICE facility in recent months.

Anti-ICE messages found on bullets, FBI says

Joe Rothrock, the special agent in charge of the Dallas FBI, said the ICE shooting as an act of ‘targeted violence.’

‘I can confirm at this time that the FBI is investigating this incident as an act of targeted violence,’ he said.

He revealed that bullets found near the shooter contained messages that were ‘anti-ICE in nature.’

‘Early evidence that we’ve seen from, rounds that were found near the suspected shooter contained messages that are anti-ICE in nature,’ Rothrock said.

A brother of the Dallas ICE shooting suspect claimed his brother was not particularly interested in politics.

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, who allegedly opened fire on the ICE facility, killing two detainees and injuring a third before turning the gun on himself.

‘He didn’t have strong feelings about ICE as far as I knew,’ Joshua’s older brother, Noah Jahn, told NBC News.

Noah described his brother as ‘unique’ and said he never would have thought his brother would be involved in a politically motivated shooting.

‘I didn’t think he was politically interested,’ Noah said. ‘He wasn’t interested in politics on either side as far as I knew.’

Noah said they grew up in Allen, Texas, and they participated in the Boy Scouts.

He added that Joshua had previously worked in coding, but was currently unemployed and planning to move onto their parents’ property in Oklahoma.

He revealed that their parents owned a gun and Joshua knew how to use it, but claimed ‘he’s not a marksman, that’s for sure. He would not be able to make any shots like that.’

Noah noted he last saw his brother two weeks ago, and nothing was unusual.

Alvarado ICE facility ambushed on July 4

FBI Director Kash Patel referenced a previous Texas ICE facility attack while condemning violence against law enforcement in the wake of the Dallas shooting.

On July 4, at least 16 people ambushed an ICE detention center in Alvarado, in Johnson County, reported Fox 4.

According to federal court documents, protesters dressed in black, military-style clothing began shooting fireworks at the detention center.

Officials believe two people broke off from the group to graffiti vehicles and a guard structure as a ploy to draw ICE detention officers out of the building.

ICE officers called the Alvarado police department to respond to the graffiti, and when an officer arrived, suspected shooter Benjamin Song, who was positioned in the woods, shot the officer in the neck.

Fortunately, the officer survived.

Investigators said another assailant located across the street fired 20 to 30 rounds, and then both shooters ran away.

Police said they found AR-style rifles at the scene, two-way radios, and a total of 12 sets of body armor after searching the scene and the defendants’ cars.
