David Walliams hilariously ripped open his shirt as he joined a dancing ‘granny’ on stage during her Britain’s Got Talent audition on Sunday.

The comedian, 50, wasted no time in stripping down to his trousers as he marched away from the judge’s panel to join 77-year-old Joy Weir in front of the London Palladium.

While prancing around on stage to 90s dance tracks, Simon Cowell looked on in horror at the Whitburn-native, before firmly pushing his red buzzer and squinting in horror.

Realising what his co-star was about to do, the media mogul shook his head and mouthed, ‘No,’ as the Little Britain writer tore off his black shirt while bouncing up and down.

He then knelt to kiss Joy’s hand while Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon looked on in astonishment. She was sent through to the next round with three yeses.

When the children’s author flashed a phone gesture, his new pal looked confused before he joked: ‘I’m telling you to call me!’

Upon her arrival, she said: ‘Hello my name is Joy Weir and I’m from a town called Whitburn, West Lothian and in fact I’m about two miles from where Susan Boyle stays.

When Alesha asked why she was auditioning, Joy replied: ‘It was my grandkids, so I’ve got to do it for them haven’t I?’

Her playlist consisted of Beauty and The Beast’s A Tale As Old As Time, Scooter’s The Logical Song, and Scots’ Bits N Pieces.

‘David showing his cheekiness side on stage with Joy but it was a great audition #BGT.’

Amused viewers flooded to Twitter to write: ‘I loved joy and David #BGT,’ along with, ”David showing his cheekiness side on stage with Joy but it was a great audition #BGT.’

Elsewhere, Simon pressed his golden buzzer for comedian Axel Blake, who admitted he signed up for the show to inspire his 12-year-old son to ‘believe in himself,’ adding, ‘Put your mind to it and anything can happen.’

The property maintenance specialist then cheekily said to the head judge, ‘If you need a kitchen done, Simon, let me know,’ to which he replied, ‘I do actually Axel,’ before asking for a good rate since they’re ‘friends’ now.

The contestant joked, ‘Press that and we’ll be cool,’ referring to the golden buzzer, which will send him straight to the semi-final.

At the end of the set, Simon lauded the auditionee with praise for being the ‘first person to make a joke about Covid and it was funny. After what everyone’s gone through, we needed this show on air and acts like you.’

He then said: ‘I like a granite top and a waste disposal unit. You give me 20 percent off and you get this,’ before reaching over to the highly-coveted button while the crowd went crazy.

Later on, IMD Legion, a 36-piece dance crew aged between 11 to 35 and based in east London tried their luck in front of the panel again, having competed in 2015’s series of the ITV talent show.

The troupe had reached the semi final before being knocked out by a margin of 0.9% of the audience vote but certainly wowed this time around with their sharp moves and expertly-choreographed set.

And Loren looked set for even greater success after Amanda excitedly pressed her buzzer for the singer – who was previously embroiled in a fix row amid her worldwide success.

Following an awful rendition of the popular song from a previous contestant, the judges were soon floored when Loren then walked on the stage and announced she was the original singer of the song from the 2017 film.

Expressing his shock at Loren audition, Simon – who’s favourite film is The Greatest Showman – exclaimed: ‘Oh my god! So you sang one of the biggest songs of all time. You’ve revealed it wasn’t the actress who sang the song in the movie — it was you singing the song.’

She then went on to belt out the track, which was mimed to by actress Rebecca Ferguson in the movie, leaving the audience and judges in awe of her voice.

After receiving a standing ovation, Simon asked: ‘Why didn’t you get that big deal after the song?’

She replied: ‘I was more comfortable singing behind the scenes, but I kinda feel like the song was meant for me and now I’m ready to put a face to the song.’

And as the judges then gave their verdicts, Amanda reached over and pressed her golden buzzer, much to the shock and joy of Loren.

‘BGT is known for its diversity of talent with big dance groups, wonderful choirs and lavish orchestras at its heart, and it has become clear that not only is it not possible to film auditions with these types of acts in a secure way but also that they are not able to adequately rehearse and prepare safely.

They finished: ‘Safety has to come first and, as a result, the recording of the show can’t currently go ahead as planned.’

‘He is full of ideas and has some amazing ideas on the back-burner. It is in Simon’s blood, it is terminal, the hunger, the creativity, maybe in the end Simon won’t be on camera but he’s always going to be involved. He just wants to reap some of the things that he’s sown and enjoy life a bit better.

‘They’re going to be aiming to spend some more time in the UK, which is really nice for me.
