Death Toll Climbs to 4 in Attack on LDS Church in Michigan, Unknown Number of Congregants Unaccounted For

Authorities in Michigan presented limited updates on the attack on the LDS Church in Grand Blanc during a brief press conference on Sunday night.

Here’s what we know at this point:

Four people are confirmed dead; two died as a result of gunshot wounds, and two bodies were later found at the church.
One person is in critical condition, and seven more in stable condition.
There are an unknown number of congregants still missing.
FBI is now the lead agency, and the incident is being investigated as an act of targeted violence.
Additional bomb threats are ongoing; some targeted locations were also churches.
It’s believed that the shooter used an accelerant, likely gasoline, then set the church ablaze.
Suspected explosive devices were located, but there’s no evidence that they were used to start the fire.
The original 911 call came in at 10:25 A.M., and the shooter was neutralized at 10:33 A.M.
The shooter, 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, is an Iraq War veteran who has a son with a congenital hyperinsulinism.
